Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electro-Mechanical Senior Manufacturing Engineer/Technician to join a dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you bridge the gap between engineering design and manufacturing execution for complex electromechanical systems, while mentoring junior technicians and assemblers. You ensure precision, quality, and safety at every stage of production and contribute directly to the delivery of high-quality electronic and mechanical products.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the quality of all tasks you perform and ensure they meet established standards.
• Perform advanced soldering on both RoHS and Non-RoHS components and assemblies with a high degree of accuracy.
• Follow detailed work instructions in an FDA-compliant manufacturing environment.
• Use standard hand tools and computer systems confidently and safely to support daily production activities.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant records in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Provide leadership on the production floor by guiding small teams, delegating tasks, and supporting technical training for assemblers and junior technicians.
• Audit and verify assembly kits in both Just-in-Time (JIT) and batch production environments to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail with clear written and verbal communication in all aspects of work.
• Investigate, document, and log failure information related to electromechanical assemblies, including probable root causes and recommended rework instructions.
• Support and perform rework activities associated with deviations, Return Material Authorizations (RMAs), and Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMRs).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Research and Development (R&D), and Customer Program Managers to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Assess and provide operations with demand capacity information, including resources, materials, and processes, to meet production output requirements.
• Enter production data and related documentation into the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system (Arena).
• Use common software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and related applications to support documentation and reporting.
• Learn and support manufacturing of multiple product lines and customer builds, adapting to changing priorities and requirements.
• Train assemblers and junior technicians on proper assembly techniques, documentation practices, and quality standards.
• Contribute to process improvement, manufacturing engineering initiatives, and manufacturing process development using structured methodologies such as Six Sigma where applicable.

• Minimum of 2 years of electronics courses or equivalent technical education.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience performing electro-mechanical assembly and troubleshooting in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in electro-mechanical assembly and troubleshooting, including wiring, mechanical assembly, and electronic assembly.
• Strong soldering skills, including advanced soldering for RoHS and Non-RoHS components and assemblies.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in using standard hand tools, measurement tools such as micrometers, and related equipment.
• Experience working in an FDA-compliant manufacturing environment or similar regulated setting.
• Strong familiarity with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and the ability to maintain compliant records.
• Familiarity with analog and digital circuits and their application in electromechanical systems.
• Comfort using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, specifically Arena, for production data and documentation.
• Proficiency with common software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and related applications.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work, especially documentation and quality control.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and reporting.
• Ability to investigate failures, identify probable root causes, and define appropriate rework instructions.

• Experience working within ISO-regulated environments is preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing compliance and documentation, including FDA, GDP, and ISO-related practices.
• Background in manufacturing engineering, production support, and manufacturing process development.
• Experience with process improvement methodologies and tools, including Six Sigma.
• Demonstrated leadership skills in a small-team production environment, including technical training and task delegation.
• Experience with quality control, process verification, and cross-functional production support.
• Ability to work effectively in Just-in-Time (JIT) and batch production environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

Work Environment

You work in a small manufacturing team of approximately 10–14 people, fostering close collaboration and strong communication. The environment combines electronic and mechanical assembly operations within an FDA-compliant and quality-focused setting. You will use standard hand tools, micrometers, wiring tools, and computer-based systems, including PLM software and common office applications. The pace is fast but structured, with a focus on precision, documentation accuracy, and adherence to regulatory and quality standards. You will support multiple product lines and customer builds, contributing to a flexible and dynamic production environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Redwood City, CA.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
