Interior Designer
Design and Space Planning
- Develop space plans, furniture layouts, and design concepts using approved contract grade manufacturers.
- Interpret client programming requirements, workplace standards, and budgets into effective design solutions.
- Produce test fits, schematic designs, and detailed design development packages.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, ADA requirements, and ergonomic best practices.
Documentation and Deliverables
- Prepare accurate furniture plans, finish plans, typical details, elevations, and product specifications.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency across drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate designs with Customer Service, Project Management, and Operations teams to support accurate ordering and installation.
Client and Sales Collaboration
- Partner with Sales on client presentations and design rationale.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and design charrettes.
- Respond to client feedback and efficiently revise designs while maintaining design intent.
Product and Industry Knowledge
- Maintain knowledge of workplace applications and workplace strategies.
- Stay informed about ancillary manufacturer products, finishes, and lead times.
- Apply workplace research and current design trends to develop innovative solutions.
Internal Collaboration
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Sales, and Installation teams throughout project execution.
- Assist with workload management and prioritization to meet deadlines.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy.
Qualifications and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field.
- 2 to 5 or more years of commercial furniture or dealer design experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and CET Designer.
- Working knowledge of commercial furniture systems and workplace planning.
- Experience with contract furniture products preferred.
- Familiarity with Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Bluebeam preferred.
- Strong space planning and systems furniture expertise.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline driven environment.
- Ability to travel/commute to customer locations and jobsites as required.
