Position Overview Manager, Data Scientist – Innovation Hub Data is at the center of everything we do. As a Data Scientist at Capital One, you’ll help lead the next wave of disruption at scale, using the latest computing and machine learning technologies to unlock opportunities across billions of customer records and help people save money, time and reduce financial stress. Team Description The InnovationHub team partners with business teams across the organization to design and deliver AI‑driven solutions to their most pressing challenges. When teams hit a wall or see an opportunity, they turn to InnovationHub to engineer the path forward. The work centers on designing and deploying generative AI applications and AI‑powered capabilities that drive real business value, while championing AI best practices and standards across the enterprise. Responsibilities Partner with a cross‑functional team of data scientists, software engineers and product managers to deliver a product customers love. Leverage a broad technology stack – Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more – to reveal insights hidden within large numeric and textual datasets. Build machine learning models through all phases of development: design, training, evaluation, validation and implementation. Translate the complexity of technical work into tangible business outcomes. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field) plus 6 years of analytical experience. Master’s degree in a quantitative field or an MBA with a quantitative concentration plus 4 years of analytical experience. PhD in a quantitative field plus 1 year of analytical experience. At least 1 year of experience using open‑source programming languages for large‑scale data analysis. At least 1 year of experience working with machine learning. At least 1 year of experience using relational databases. Preferred Qualifications Master’s or PhD in a STEM field plus at least 3 years of data‑analytics experience. At least 3 years of experience with Python. At least 3 years of experience with machine learning. At least 1 year of experience with AWS, including Amazon Bedrock. Experience designing or deploying generative AI or LLM‑based applications. Experience working across multiple business domains or in a cross‑functional, project‑based environment.
