INTERIM Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction

Full Time, 12-month position The Manville School District is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and student-centered educational leader to serve as the Interim Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Schools, the Interim Assistant Superintendent provides visionary leadership in the planning, development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the District's instructional programs, curriculum, assessment systems, and professional learning initiatives. Full Time, 12-month position The Manville School District is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and student-centered educational leader to serve as the Interim Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Schools, the Interim Assistant Superintendent provides visionary leadership in the planning, development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the District's instructional programs, curriculum, assessment systems, and professional learning initiatives. The Interim Assistant Superintendent is responsible for improving student learning by strengthening the core components of the educational process, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, instructional technology, and professional development. This leader will work collaboratively with district and building administrators, teachers, staff, students, families, and the Board of Education to ensure equitable, rigorous, and engaging learning experiences for all students. The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of a shared K-12 vision for curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and instructional technology that aligns with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and the District's strategic goals. The Interim Assistant Superintendent will oversee the evaluation of instructional programs and student achievement data, communicating findings and recommendations to faculty, administrators, the Board of Education, and the larger school community through a variety of effective communication methods. Additional responsibilities include leading K-12 curriculum initiatives, including the development of the Program of Studies and course offerings; designing and implementing targeted, job-embedded professional learning opportunities; supervising instructional and assessment practices to ensure high-quality teaching and learning; developing and managing departmental budgets that reflect the instructional needs of all learners; and collaborating with the Superintendent in the preparation and submission of required state reports and other district initiatives. Qualifications Valid NJ School Administrator or Principal endorsement required. Master's degree required; doctorate preferred. Demonstrated district-level curriculum leadership preferred. Experience supervising administrators preferred. Experience with school budgeting preferred. Knowledge of NJQSAC, NJDOE accountability systems, and state reporting.Minimum of five years of teaching experience. Demonstrated leadership and innovation in classroom teaching. Experience as a building principal preferred. Excellent oral and written skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills which create relationships with all levels of staff. Ability to: Properly analyze and apply district policies and state regulations in a variety of situations. Maintain cooperative working relationships with school personnel, administrators, students, and parents. Demonstrated achievement and leadership in the planning, developing, organizing, communicating and implementing district-level programs in curriculum, supervision/evaluation, and professional development. Ability to work within a team to plan, develop, organize, communicate and implement the district's Strategic Plan. Proficient in the utilization of technology and digital information platforms.

SUPERVISES

Content area supervisors and instructional staff. Performance Responsibilities Collaborates with the Administrative Team in developing the district curriculum and assists in the formulation of philosophy and objectives for the instructional plan. Evaluates and recommends the adoption of new instructional materials, methods, and programs for the purpose of addressing deficiencies in the curriculum identified via analysis of testing data and data relative to teacher instructional practices. Develops a plan for technology integration including Canvas, Google Suite, and other programs. Collaborates with the Director of Special Services in the development of special education programming. Collaborates with the High School Principal and Guidance department in support of the AP Program. Recommends the addition of new programs, activities, and software to upgrade the district's ability to use student data and test data to improve curriculum and learning. Manages the curriculum digital system (Canvas) as well as the faculty professional development and supervision digital system (Frontline). Manages the Frontline System, specifically the portion dealing with AchieveNJ. Works with staff at all levels to use data to plan curriculum, instruction, programming and professional development. Keeps the district compliant with state mandates and reporting. Recommends to principals, content area supervisors and the superintendent the addition of new programs, activities, and software to upgrade the district's ability to use student data and test data to improve curriculum and learning. Conducts classroom observations and provides supervision/evaluation of teachers as requested by the superintendent. Leads the recruitment, screening, hiring, training, and assigning of instructional personnel. Leads the development and coordination in the areas of the budget that pertain to curriculum, instruction, technology and professional development. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent. Reports Produces guides on testing and test data to be distributed to the staff as required. Regularly prepares reports on tests results of instructional and assessment practices, individuals, classes, grade levels, schools and the district, including the use of graphs and charts to make results understandable; reports will often include conclusions and recommendations for action. Plans and provides leadership in communicating these reports to all stakeholders through a variety of mediums. Contributes sections to reports, such as the professional development report required by the NJDOE, assembling and accurately analyzing test data in a timely fashion in order to meet reporting requirements and deadlines. Meetings And Committees Schedules and organizes meetings in order to improve the horizontal and vertical alignment of curriculum. Guides the instructional programs of our schools. Plans and presents a series of meetings each year for the purpose of explaining the use of test data to the BOE and to the parents and the public at large. Meets on a regular basis with all Content Area Supervisors and Principals for the purpose of using test data to guide the implementation of the district curriculum through effective assessments and supervision of instruction.
