Position Summary

The IT System Administrator is a business systems-focused technology professional with primary responsibility for supporting, administering, and continuously improving Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and its connected manufacturing, warehouse, reporting, and integration solutions. The role partners closely with operations, finance, supply chain, production, warehouse, and other business teams to resolve application issues, strengthen processes, maintain data and access controls, and support upgrades and new capabilities. In addition, the position provides hands-on administration of Microsoft 365, servers, networks, endpoints, security tools, and other infrastructure required to support a multi-site, 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Administration & Support

•    Own day-to-day functional and technical support for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central across finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, warehousing, manufacturing, planning, and related business processes.

•    Troubleshoot posting, reservation, item tracking, warehouse, production, planning, permissions, dimensions, job queue, and integration issues; identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.

•    Administer users, permission sets, security groups, environments, companies, extensions, job queues, web services, and other assigned Business Central configuration areas.

•    Partner with process owners and subject matter experts to translate business requirements into practical Business Central configuration, workflow, reporting, and automation solutions.

•    Support Business Central upgrades, release validation, regression testing, user acceptance testing, data migration, cutover activities, and post-deployment stabilization.

•    Maintain documentation for configurations, support procedures, known issues, integrations, security roles, change decisions, and business processes.

•    Provide user coaching and training, develop job aids, and promote consistent adoption of approved Business Central processes.

•    Coordinate issue resolution and enhancement work with Microsoft partners, software vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.

Connected Manufacturing, Warehouse & Reporting Systems

•    Support Insight Works Warehouse Insight, Insight Works Shop Floor Insight, Cosmos reporting, EDI solutions, scanning devices, label printing, and other applications integrated with Business Central.

•    Monitor and troubleshoot integrations, data flows, interfaces, scheduled processes, and reporting outputs between Business Central and connected systems.

•    Work with operations, production, warehouse, quality, finance, and supply chain teams to improve system reliability, data accuracy, traceability, and operational efficiency.

•    Assist with business application projects involving requirements definition, configuration, testing, deployment, training, and support transition.

Infrastructure & Systems Administration

•    Maintain and support enterprise hardware, software, Windows Server environments, network equipment, wireless infrastructure, endpoints, virtualization platforms, and security appliances.

•    Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and reliability for business-critical systems supporting manufacturing operations.

•    Perform patch management, system updates, preventive maintenance, backup verification, and technical lifecycle activities.

•    Troubleshoot hardware, software, server, network, printing, scanning, and infrastructure issues across multiple locations.

•    Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, Active Directory, Entra ID, endpoint management tools, N-able, Adlumin, and related administration platforms.

Security, Access & Business Continuity

•    Implement and maintain security best practices that protect company systems, identities, data, networks, and business applications.

•    Administer user access and permissions across Business Central, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, connected applications, and physical access systems using least-privilege principles.

•    Perform routine security monitoring and assist with vulnerability remediation, incident response, cybersecurity awareness, and compliance activities.

•    Support backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and system recovery planning for infrastructure and critical business applications.

•    Participate in access reviews and maintain evidence and documentation required for audits and internal controls.

Technical Support & End-User Services

•    Provide responsive technical and business application support for employees across multiple locations and levels of technical proficiency.

•    Prioritize incidents based on business impact, production risk, financial processing needs, and operational urgency.

•    Communicate clearly with users throughout issue diagnosis and resolution, including documenting causes, workarounds, corrective actions, and follow-up needs.

•    Participate in after-hours support and planned maintenance as required to maintain critical business operations.

Vendor, Project & Continuous Improvement Responsibilities

•    Serve as a primary liaison with Microsoft partners and other technology vendors for Business Central, integrations, infrastructure, telecommunications, and support services.

•    Assist in the administration and support of the organization’s 3CX or Microsoft Teams VoIP phone system.

•    Identify and implement opportunities to improve business processes, system performance, security, reliability, automation, and operational efficiency.

•    Assist the IT Director with technology planning, project execution, standards, roadmaps, budgeting inputs, and modernization initiatives.

•    Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, support records, system inventories, and project status information.

•    Support responsible adoption of AI and automation where it improves service, decision-making, or business process performance.

Required Qualifications

•    Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience supporting and administering Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot functional, configuration, permissions, data, and integration issues.

•    Working knowledge of Business Central processes in several of the following areas: finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, warehouse management, manufacturing, production planning, item tracking, dimensions, reporting, and job queues.

•    Experience supporting Business Central in a manufacturing, food manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environment strongly preferred.

•    Experience with Business Central implementation, upgrades, testing, extensions, integrations, EDI, reporting, scanners, or warehouse/manufacturing add-ons strongly preferred.

•    Minimum of five (5) years of progressive IT systems administration, business applications support, or comparable experience.

•    Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, networking, endpoint management, and cybersecurity fundamentals.

•    Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Systems, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.

•    Ability to analyze business processes, communicate with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders, and convert operational needs into supportable solutions.

•    Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, project coordination, and problem-solving skills.

•    Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

•    Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central certification or equivalent demonstrated expertise.

•    Experience with Insight Works Warehouse Insight, Insight Works Shop Floor Insight, Cosmos reporting, EDI platforms, Power BI, Power Automate, or related Microsoft technologies.

•    Familiarity with AL extensions, APIs, web services, SQL concepts, data migration, and integration troubleshooting.

•    Experience with N-able, Adlumin, firewalls, wireless networking, backup solutions, virtualization, and multi-site manufacturing infrastructure.

Working Conditions

This position requires regular on-site presence and support in a manufacturing environment. The individual must be available to provide support outside normal business hours when necessary to maintain critical business operations.
