Placement Specialist - Marine

Marsh is seeking candidates for our open Placement Specialist position in our Seattle, Houston, New York City or Chicago office. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. What can you expect: Builds and maintains relationships with underwriters, and is involved in the placement of sophisticated insurance programs. Helps identify the need for new products and develops innovative solutions for clients. Completes policy management activities and delivery of reviewed policy to client and helps address client inquiries as necessary. Delivers technical expertise in the delivery and presentation or marine portions of RFP’s. What's in it for you? We will count on you to: Manage and monitor the insured’s placement strategy by utilizing risk expertise and knowledge of industry and carriers to develop placement solutions that meet complex client needs. Develop methods for the go-to-market strategy and provide input on pricing of services supporting client retention and new business production. Guide strong working relations with carriers and/or underwriters to create innovative approaches to unique client needs and provide cohesive client service. Audit and finalize commission structure with underwriter in accordance with client direction, Marsh Commission Yield Statements and Facility agreements. Achieve a thorough understanding of changing insurance, risk market conditions, and inform client teams, clients and carriers of major developments affecting various types of coverage. Advanced knowledge to the firm’s product lines by active participation in internal networks. Devise new products and innovative solutions that address complex client needs. Lead complex placement/technical support activities on big accounts, such as ensuring procedural compliance, reviewing data and updating annual renewal exhibits, maintaining accurate placement system entries, to ensure contract execution as required. Consult management on highly complex client issues or trends through clear and concise communication that drives development. Develop strong working relations with carriers and/or underwriters. Submit coverage specifications and obtain quotes from carriers, ensure that coverage is bound and be responsible for the accuracy of bound programs. Receive and analyze quotes from carriers and provide analysis and recommendations. What you need to have: 5+ years industry experience Commercial Brokerage and/or Underwriting Experience preferably in marine lines of coverage P&C license a must, or ability to obtain Bachelors' degree preferred What makes you stand out? All Marsh colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person. The applicable base salary range for this role is $92,500 to $197,100. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case‑based basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance‑based incentives.
