Credence is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to support secure AWS hosting environments for Department of War customers.

This is a hands-on engineering role that supports the broader cloud hosting lifecycle. The position includes AWS infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, container platforms, automation, technical solutioning, troubleshooting, monitoring, security, and operational support.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing, implementing, automating, and troubleshooting AWS-based environments. Candidates should be comfortable working across infrastructure, deployments, container platforms, security controls, and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Design, implement, operate, and improve secure AWS hosting solutions supporting development, test, and production environments.
• Collaborate with Cloud Engineers, Solutions Architects, cybersecurity professionals, application teams, and customer stakeholders to develop and implement technical solutions.
• Translate technical and customer requirements into practical cloud infrastructure, deployment, and hosting solutions.
• Build, maintain, and improve reusable Infrastructure as Code patterns using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting automated build, test, security scanning, deployment, and release workflows.
• Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot containerized workloads using Docker, Amazon ECS/Fargate, and Amazon EKS/Kubernetes.
• Support container platforms, including workload deployment, configuration, networking, storage, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Develop scripts, tools, and automation using Python, Shell, PowerShell, or similar technologies to reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
• Convert recurring operational issues into reusable automation, platform capabilities, or standardized deployment patterns.
• Support AWS-hosted environments as needed, including troubleshooting, incident response, planned maintenance, technical escalations, and production support.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, operating system, networking, permissions, database, pipeline, container, and deployment issues.
• Support cloud platform services related to monitoring, logging, access control, configuration management, patching, backup, and security.
• Work with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure infrastructure and automation align with customer, federal, and organizational requirements.
• Research and recommend tools, technologies, and engineering practices that improve platform reliability, automation, security, and developer experience.
• Create and maintain technical designs, implementation plans, deployment procedures, runbooks, reusable patterns, and operational documentation.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, typically approximately one week every four months.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• CompTIA Security+ certification, or the ability to obtain it within the first 60 days.
• AWS certification, or the ability to obtain one within the first 90 days.
• At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, infrastructure automation, systems engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience designing, deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting AWS environments.
• Experience with core AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, security groups, RDS, EFS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Systems Manager.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or another Infrastructure as Code technology.
• Experience developing, maintaining, or troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or similar platforms.
• Production experience with Docker and at least one container platform, such as Amazon ECS Fargate or Amazon EKS/Kubernetes.
• Experience developing automation using Python, Shell, PowerShell, or a similar scripting language.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across infrastructure, deployments, networking, permissions, and containerized workloads.
• Ability to contribute to technical solution design and communicate recommendations, tradeoffs, and implementation approaches.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical processes and communicate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with both Amazon ECS/Fargate and Amazon EKS/Kubernetes.
• Experience with Terraform modules, remote state, workspaces, providers, and reusable Infrastructure as Code patterns.
• Experience with Git-based development workflows, branching strategies, merge requests, pull requests, and code reviews.
• Experience with Kubernetes tools and concepts such as Helm, namespaces, ingress, service networking, storage, autoscaling, and container registries.
• Experience supporting secure environments subject to federal, Public Trust, NIST, DoD, or similar compliance requirements.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Experience with AWS networking, load balancing, DNS, identity, security controls, or hybrid connectivity.
• Experience administering Linux or Windows servers in cloud or enterprise environments.
• Experience with Active Directory or LDAP-based identity solutions.
• Experience integrating generative AI services, APIs, or AI-assisted tools into cloud applications, engineering workflows, automation, or operational platforms.
• AWS Associate, Specialty, or Professional-level certification.
• Experience leading technical solutioning discussions with customers or stakeholders.

Compensation and Work Arrangement

• The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000–$180,000 , depending on experience, technical depth, certifications, and overall qualifications.
• This is a hybrid position. The work location is provided in the job posting. No regular travel is expected.
