Embedded Software Engineer - C/C++ | ARM | Firmware

Job Location: Tampa, FL | $100K-$170K + Bonus | Relocation Assistance

Nickerson Talent Solutions (NTS) is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Embedded C/C++ to develop low-level software for advanced defense and secure communications systems.

This is NOT a general software development role. We are looking for engineers who have developed software that runs directly on embedded hardware, processors, microcontrollers, or SoCs.

What You'll Do

• Develop embedded software using C and C++

• Develop and maintain low-level firmware for embedded systems

• Develop for ARM processors, microcontrollers and SoCs

• Work with bare-metal and RTOS environments

• Integrate software with firmware and hardware

• Develop and debug device drivers, BSPs and hardware interfaces

• Troubleshoot processor, memory, peripheral and hardware/software integration issues

• Perform low-level debugging using GDB, JTAG and OpenOCD

• Work closely with hardware, firmware and systems engineering teams

Must-Have

• 2+ years of professional Embedded Software/Firmware experience

• Strong hands-on C and C++ development experience

• Experience developing software for embedded hardware

• Experience with ARM processors, microcontrollers, SoCs, bare-metal or RTOS

• Understanding of hardware/software integration and low-level debugging

• U.S. Citizenship

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field Preferred

Embedded: Device Drivers, Bootloaders, HAL/BSP, Firmware, Board Bring-Up

Processors: ARM Cortex-M, ARM Cortex-A, SoCs, Microcontrollers

Interfaces: SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet

RTOS: FreeRTOS, VxWorks, Zephyr, ThreadX or similar

Tools: GDB, OpenOCD, JTAG, Git, CMake

Development: Linux, Cross-Compilation, Debugging, Unit Testing

Defense: COMSEC, Cryptography, Aerospace, Secure Communications
