The nurse will work on a unit that specializes in transplant nephrology. The unit has 20 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6. Support staff includes a unit secretary during the day and patient care technicians. The documentation system used is Meditech. Scheduling requires 3 weekend shifts per month. There are no on-call requirements, and agency nurses will float first when necessary. The unit provides med/surg care, with dialysis performed off the unit. Teamwork is emphasized, and the unit has received a teamwork award. Nurses will benefit from a virtual nurse who handles patient admissions, allowing bedside nurses to focus on patient care. Royal blue scrubs are the designated dress code; black scrub pants are permitted. Unit-specific policies and guidelines apply.
