Senior Student Housing Officer Location: Portsmouth Posted: 28/06/2026 Basis: Full-Time Job details Salary: £32,080 - £34,610 per annum Contractual hours: 37 per week Job type: Fixed Term - Full-Time Job reference: REC00005144 Job description We are seeking a proactive and positive team player to join the busy Student Housing service, helping to provide an excellent advisory and support service to students, parents, landlords, and members of the local community. This role will involve assisting the Deputy Head of Student Housing in developing and running the Student Housing service, setting a high standard of customer service, and ensuring that enquiries and accommodation applications are handled efficiently and effectively. The successful applicant will have excellent customer service and data processing skills, with proven office and supervisory experience in a busy, customer‑focused open‑plan environment. Diplomacy, accuracy and flexibility under pressure are essential. They must also be a confident public speaker with experience in preparing and delivering presentations to large, diverse groups to promote the service. The role will have a particular focus on coordinating accommodation support for students with additional requirements, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise closely with students and support services to ensure allocated accommodation meets assessed needs. This full‑time, on‑site position may require working outside core hours, including evenings and weekends throughout the year, especially during August and September. Flexibility around these commitments is required. The appointment is a fixed‑term contract until 30 April 2027 (or earlier if the substantive post holder returns), to cover maternity leave. Salary Information: New appointments will start at the entry spine point (minimum) for the advertised grade. They will receive annual cost‑of‑living increases and progress through the pay range to the maximum for the grade within a reasonable timeframe. A higher starting salary or market supplement may be available for exceptional candidates in exceptional circumstances.
