ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive, customer‑focused behavior with associates. Smiles and greets customers, answers questions, and resolves concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner. Focuses on continuous improvement to ensure progress. Assists the Customer Experience Manager in overseeing all front‑end operations and performs the Manager’s duties in their absence. Enforces cash‑handling controls and security measures, follows all company policies and regulations related to operations and compliance, and oversees bookkeeping procedures. Assists associates with transactions—providing change, checking prices, voids, refunds—as well as conducting unannounced cash‑audits. Participates in onboarding and training of new front‑end associates, implements new programs and procedures, recognizes performance, and participates in annual performance reviews using the Learning Management System. Updates the auto‑scheduler system to manage associate availability, headcounts, and schedules to meet business demands while satisfying labor cost and sales‑per‑hour goals. Controls supply costs while maintaining adequate inventory for paper, plastic bags, and other consumables. Directs the flow of customers through the front end, ensures sufficient checkout lanes are open, monitors breaks and lunches, and keeps wait times minimal. Oversees lot attendant service to assist customers with carts and loading groceries. Operates front‑end scanning equipment, registers, and related checkout procedures, including efficient bagging and placement of merchandise. Assists customer service in answering phone calls and uses intercom for announcements or pages. Maintains equipment functionality, reports issues for resolution promptly. Communicates promotions and sale items to cashiers, generates sales through suggestive selling, and participates in daily store huddles. Maintains knowledge of weekly ads, marketing promotions, and store layout to answer customer inquiries. Ensures safety and sanitation of the parking lot, porch, entrance/exit, and checkout area, follows cleaning schedules, and meets health and OSHA requirements. Collaborates with co‑workers and superiors to improve job performance continuously. May assist with baling cardboard or other duties (training provided). May help with receiving, unloading, checking‑in, breaking‑down, and storing deliveries via power jack or hand jack (training provided). Utilizes all company‑provided Personal Protective Equipment, including cut‑resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company‑sponsored footwear. May be called to assist in other departments as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises all Associates within the department and may assume total leadership of the building in the absence of store management. The number of associates supervised depends on store size and management presence. Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, the Associate must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below. The role involves supervising associates within the department and may require assuming full leadership of the building during manager absence. Rate of Pay and Benefits The hourly rate for this position starts at $17.00 and goes up to $25.00.
