Make a meaningful impact by supporting students who are visually impaired in a dynamic educational setting near San Jose, CA. Bring your expertise in teaching visually impaired learners and help foster independence, confidence, and a love for learning. This contract position runs from August 13th to June 11th, offering a structured and rewarding academic year.
Ideal background and credentials:
- Possess a valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential authorizing Visual Impairments, or a California teaching credential with authorization to teach visually handicapped students (EL CLAD).
- Hold a bachelor’s degree granted by an accredited college or university.
- Demonstrate a passion for making educational materials accessible and engaging for students with visual impairments.
- Ability to thrive in onsite roles (virtual/remote or hybrid options are not available for this position).
- Experience working collaboratively with other educational professionals and families is highly valued.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support tailored to the unique needs of visually impaired students.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and staff to adapt curriculum and materials for accessibility.
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) specific to each student’s abilities and goals.
- Provide consultation and technical expertise on assistive technology and classroom modifications.
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports academic and personal growth.
