ABOUT THE TEXAS CIVIL RIGHTS PROJECT
The Texas Civil Rights Project (TCRP) is a community lawyering organization boldly serving the movement for equality and justice in and out of the courts, seeking to advance a vision of a Texas where all communities can thrive with dignity and justice, without fear. For more than thirty-five years, the Texas Civil Rights Project has been a committed partner to community organizers, families, and advocacy groups statewide. The attorneys and advocates at TCRP work to dismantle mass incarceration, fight discrimination in voting and civic participation, and right injustices occurring at the Texas border, all under a race equity lens. TCRP’s lawyers work with coalitions of community-based organizations to identify injustices facing Texas communities and develop systemic solutions using litigation and other legal advocacy tools. For additional highlights about TCRP’s work and to learn more about TCRP, visit
TCRP comprises three regional offices across Texas, with over 50 employees and an annual budget exceeding $7 million. As a community-based organization, TCRP requires staff to live in Texas. TCRP strives for geographic diversity within the state. To accomplish greater geographic coverage of Texas, TCRP also employs staff in fully remote positions in cities where TCRP does not maintain an office. Some travel is required for in-person activities.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OR PROGRAM
The Voting Rights program at the Texas Civil Rights Project fights to protect and expand the power of underrepresented communities in Texas — especially communities of color, workers, youth, and people with disabilities. Our community-centered lawyers and advocates use responsive and innovative litigation, state and local policy advocacy, and voter protection programs to strive toward a thriving democracy that reflects our rich diversity, responds to the needs of everyday Texans, and holds our elected officials accountable.
