2026 Mechanical Engineering Internship Opportunities

Internship Program Copeland’s Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Department offers a 3‑4 month paid internship that provides real‑world experience and the opportunity to contribute to sustainable, high‑performance HVAC technology. Positions Available Project Engineering – Partner with design, test lab and cross‑functional teams on new concepts and process optimization. Manufacturing Quality Engineering – Troubleshoot equipment, implement process improvements, maintain documentation, and gain experience with GD&T, CMM and various configuration control tools. Modeling & Simulation – Generate simulation models, provide input data, and support initiatives using FEA, CFD, machine learning and optimization methods. New Product Development – Work with manufacturing, testing and engineering teams on new scroll compression technology, manage builds and support data collection. Design Engineering – Support design and testing of HVAC components and systems, assist with prototyping, testing, documentation and performance optimization. Applications Engineering – Collaborate with sales, marketing, quality and operations on special projects, system testing, thermodynamic analysis and hardware troubleshooting. Air Management – Participate in FMEA discussions, develop testing strategies, support CAD drafting and lead projects on airflow, pressure and thermal performance. Key Responsibilities Assist with research, testing and evaluation activities. Process documentation and conduct data analysis. Conduct manufacturing audits. Attend department, team and project meetings as required. Assist with process improvement projects linked to manufacturing. Collaborate with other engineers, teams and departments. Terms Fall: 8/17/26 – 12/18/26 Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field. Legally authorized to work in the United States – sponsorship not available. Preferred Qualifications Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Strong interest in manufacturing, process improvement or product design. Skills or coursework in CAD/3D modeling, machining, data analysis, Lean/continuous improvement or automation.
