Program Clinician

Smart From The Start

Smart from the Start Smart from the Start INC is a grassroots, multi-generational, trauma-informed family support, and community engagement organization with a mission to promote the healthy development of young children and families living in under-resourced communities. Program Clinician – Job Responsibilities The Program Clinician is responsible for providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and families participating in Smart from the Start's Address the Stress (ATS) Program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide a full continuum of clinical services, including individual, group, family, and caregiver-focused interventions. Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, biopsychosocial/intake evaluations, risk assessments, crisis assessments, and diagnostic formulations as appropriate. Develop, implement, monitor, and regularly update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and families. Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and stabilization services as needed. Facilitate psychoeducation related to mental health, emotional regulation, coping skills, trauma, and overall wellness. Collaborate with caregivers, schools, healthcare providers, community agencies, and other stakeholders to coordinate care and support positive client outcomes. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with internal staff to ensure coordinated service delivery. Participate in regularly scheduled individual and group clinical supervision, case consultations, and professional development activities. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other required documentation in accordance with agency policies, NASW Code of Ethics, HIPAA regulations, and all applicable state and federal requirements. Complete all clinical documentation within established agency timeframes. Meet clinical productivity and service delivery expectations established by the National Clinical Director of Children and Family Services. Maintain professional boundaries and uphold ethical standards consistent with the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics. Participate in monthly staff meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives. Provide consultation and support to program staff regarding behavioral health concerns, trauma-informed practices, and behavior management strategies. Participate in outreach activities, community partnerships, and family engagement efforts as assigned. Be available for after-hours telephone consultation and crisis response, as required by program needs. Maintain all required licensure, certifications, and continuing education requirements. Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of Smart from the Start. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NECESSARY

Driver’s license preferred. Ability to provide clinically sound treatment services based on client needs and treatment plans. Demonstrated understanding of diagnostic evaluation methods, mental status exams, and use of the DSM-V. Ability to respond to a range of clients’ needs using differential diagnoses and treatment approaches. Ability to provide appropriate crisis intervention services. Ability to maintain clinical records in timely compliance with agency policies and procedures. Ability to work collaboratively with other community agencies on behalf of clients and/or the agency. Demonstrated understanding of sound ethical practice in conjunction with the established and defined ethics of one’s training and discipline. Ability to effectively organize time and responsibilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related discipline from an accredited educational institution required. LCSW or LICSW, preferred. Significant work experience with culturally diverse families and ethnically and economically diverse communities. Ability to develop strong working relationships with others (individuals, families, co-workers, and community agencies). Knowledge of and familiarity with Boston neighborhoods, community organizations, and schools. Superb written and oral communication skills. Ability to lead others, work independently, and work as part of a team. Preference given to candidates with fluency in Spanish. This position will report to the National Director of Clinical and Family Services. Hours: Full time (40 hrs/wk), possibly some evenings and weekends Compensation: Starting salary is commensurate with experience. Equal Opportunity Employer.
