Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | Float coverage across like units at multiple campuses

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to acute psychiatric patients presenting with major mental health illness, chronic behavioral challenges including violence, aggression, mania, and self-harm
• Work across multiple inpatient behavioral health units including Adolescent (12 beds), Adult (24 beds), and Geriatric (12 beds) populations; home unit is Adults
• Maintain patient ratios of up to 1:4-6 depending on unit and shift assignment
• Demonstrate competency with restraint equipment and de-escalation techniques
• Float across like behavioral health units at multiple Des Moines campuses as needed
• Work 1-2 assigned holidays as required unless the unit is closed

Required Qualifications

• Active Iowa RN license or Compact/Multistate license required at time of submission
• BLS certification through AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) required
• Minimum 15 months of experience in a Psychiatric/Behavioral Health nursing capacity
• Work history must reflect at least 24 months of current Psych/Behavioral Health experience
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience working with all age groups: adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients required
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (verified by driver's license)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Recent or current inpatient Behavioral Health experience highly preferred
• Active de-escalation certification (MOAB, MAB, or CPI) preferred; may be obtained during onboarding
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred
• First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 12 months of Psych/Behavioral Health experience
