Job Description

The Cleanroom Technician plays a key role in manufacturing high-quality composite products in a controlled, climate-regulated environment. This position focuses on preparing molds and tools, laminating composite materials, inspecting finished parts, and completing documentation with a strong emphasis on safety, precision, and a zero-defect, right-the-first-time mindset.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and follow Manufacturing and Inspection Procedures (MIPs) and work orders accurately to ensure products meet all specifications.
• Prepare mold and tool surfaces properly using release film, wax, and other part release products to support consistent and reliable production.
• Use pre-preg lamination techniques to cut cloth and lay up composite products to varying tolerances according to drawings and instructions.
• Prepare products for vacuum bagging using pre-preg materials and ensure all steps follow established procedures.
• Apply, store, and dispose of composite materials, adhesives, sealants, resins, and solvents in compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Support and demonstrate a strong focus on zero defects and a right-the-first-time approach in all work activities.
• Inspect finished products for conformance to specifications and identify any deviations or non-conformances.
• Inspect laminate surfaces for defects, imperfections, foreign material (FOD), or other non-conformances, and correct issues as necessary.
• Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner to support traceability and quality records.
• Sand and trim composite materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, and Kevlar to proper dimensions based on MIPs, work orders, and drawings.
• Use basic math skills to calculate, weigh, mix, and catalyze resin accurately to meet process requirements.
• Handle and operate hand tools and related equipment safely and effectively during assembly, trimming, and finishing tasks.
• Perform cleanroom-related duties, including packaging and handling components in a controlled environment to maintain cleanliness and quality standards.
• Lift and move materials and products weighing up to 50 pounds as needed to support production activities.
• Comply with all established safety directives, procedures, and guidelines while working around machinery, tools, and composite materials.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a high-paced, teamwork-focused environment with strong attention to detail.

Essential Skills

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow Manufacturing and Inspection Procedures (MIPs), work orders, and drawings.
• Hands-on experience with inspection activities to verify product conformance to specifications.
• Proficiency using hand tools for assembly, sanding, trimming, and finishing composite parts.
• Experience working in a cleanroom or controlled environment, including packaging and handling of components.
• Basic math skills to calculate, weigh, mix, and catalyze resin accurately.
• Ability to prepare molds and tools using release films, waxes, and other release products.
• Familiarity with pre-preg lamination techniques, including cutting cloth and layup of composite materials.
• Ability to inspect laminate surfaces for defects, foreign material (FOD), and other non-conformances.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily tasks.
• Commitment to following OSHA regulations for handling, storing, and disposing of composite materials, adhesives, sealants, resins, and solvents.
• Strong attention to detail and a focus on zero defects and right-the-first-time quality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in composite manufacturing, including work with fiberglass, carbon fiber, and Kevlar.
• Experience preparing products for vacuum bagging using pre-preg materials.
• Familiarity with documenting production and inspection activities for quality and compliance purposes.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with multiple departments and machinery.

The role is based in a climate-controlled facility with multiple connected buildings housing various machinery and assembly departments. You will work around composite materials, hand tools, and production equipment in a cleanroom and manufacturing setting. Processes and procedures are well-defined, and safety is a core priority throughout the workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenville, SC.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
