Cafe Associate (Part‑Time) Brookwood in Georgetown – 905 North Church Street, Georgetown, TX 78626 Part‑time (minimum 15 hours, maximum 32 hours weekly; Friday and Saturday availability required) Summary Our award‑winning café is looking to add a wonderful team member to support all areas of the café, the Citizens of BiG and the customers. The role is part‑time, with a focus on creating a welcoming, comfortable environment for guests. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Greet all guests entering the café and provide them with details on the BiG menu, including specialty coffees and desserts. Explain the BiG mission and vision to new guests and maintain a positive attitude during rush times. Work with our Citizens to create meaningful work experiences in the café. Report immediately to the Café Citizen Supervisor regarding any Citizen matters and keep all medical and personal Citizen matters confidential. Take guests’ orders at the main POS register, log in with your own number, ring up and record any marketing comps or other general comps/refunds, and maintain receipt for all comps. Take food orders to tables, check on guests, refill beverages, bus and sanitize tables to ensure an excellent guest experience. Answer phone, take call‑in “To Go” orders, record reservations, take messages regarding catering or event rentals, and forward that information to the Special Events Manager. Make specialty coffee, drinks, and smoothies. Coordinate with the Café Manager to advise on front‑of‑house supplies that are low, track waste on the Café Waste Log for FOH items such as pastries. Perform all daily and weekly cleaning tasks: clean counters, tables, chairs, booths, mop floors, organize cupboards, wash dishes, water plants, and restock items on the service counter throughout the day. Perform end‑of‑day cash drawer close‑out and assist with month‑end inventory counts. Write end‑of‑day notes. Fill in back‑of‑house as requested, including food prep, working the lines, making specialty drinks, and washing dishes. Take full responsibility for quality of products served. Know and comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules and policies. Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure smooth service. Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen and follow cleaning procedures. Follow proper plating, portioning and garnishing instructions. Wash and put away dishes as necessary and as time permits. Supervisory Responsibilities Work alongside adults with special needs and volunteers; direct as needed even without direct supervisory authority. Qualifications Education and/or Experience – Café/restaurant experience required; retail experience working with customers is essential. Skills and Abilities – Strong computer skills required (POS system, Excel, word processing, Microsoft 365, Email). Excellent knowledge of the point‑of‑sale system to enter orders accurately. Language Skills – Strong oral and written communication skills to meet and interact with the public. Mathematical Skills – Adequate accounting skills for closing the cash drawer and preparing the bank deposit at the end of each shift. Reasoning Ability – Ability to solve practical problems and manage multiple job responsibilities simultaneously. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – Current Food Handler’s Certification and CPR certification. Personal Skills – Work patiently and compassionately with adults with special needs in a God‑centered environment; work independently with minimal supervision; remain calm and composed during stressful times. Physical Demands – May be required to lift/move heavy stock and equipment up to 30 pounds; perform cleaning and maintenance duties; stand for long periods. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
