- Police DispatcherTomball, TX 77375## OverviewPosition TypeFull Time## Police DispatcherThe City of Tomball will be accepting applications for a **Police Dispatcher.** This role will responsible for answering and dispatching police and fire, 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency calls as well as various other duties as needed in support of the department**Reports To** Dispatch Supervisor**Positions Supervised**None**Dispatcher** **functions** **include but are not limited to the following.*** **Dispatch Center:** Using a computer aided dispatch system, receive emergency calls from the public requesting police, fire, medical, or other emergency service. Determine nature and location of emergency; determine priorities, and dispatch police fire, ambulance, or other emergency units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures.| || --- || **Success Framework.** The following list of knowledge, skills, and abilities have been identified by our team as building blocks towards efficiency and effectiveness in this role. |* Using a computer-aided dispatch system, receive emergency calls from the public requesting police, fire, medical, or other emergency service. Determine nature and location of emergency; determine priorities, and dispatch police fire, ambulance, or other emergency units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures.* Maintain contact with all units on assignment.* Monitor direct emergency alarms.* Answer non-emergency calls for assistance.* Enter, update, and retrieve information from a variety of computer systems.* Greet and provide information to the general public regarding laws, ordinances, calls for service, fingerprints and/or other records request, impounded vehicles, directions, etc..* Receive money for fines and bonds for local charges and other agencies, write receipts and post the data to ledgers or books.* Receive requests for information regarding vehicular registration, driving records, and warrant information, and provide pertinent data.* Monitor several complex public safety radio frequencies.* Operate a variety of communications equipment, including radio consoles, telephones and computer systems.* Other duties as assigned.| || --- || **Equipment and Tools** commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. |Computer skills.| || --- || **Work Environment** or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. |* The work is typically performed indoors in an office or court setting.* Work may involve potentially life threatening exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, noise, chemical/gases, contagious diseases, airborne particles/pathogens, and/or physical trauma.* May regularly be exposed to uncomfortable temperatures, humidity, noise, chemicals/gases, contagious diseases, airborne particles/pathogens, and/or physical trauma.| || --- || **\\* Physical Abilities.** The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. |* Work requires the ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods of time.* Work requires the ability to complete repetitive wrist, hand, and/or fine motor movement.* Work requires the ability to talk, hear, listen, and comprehend.* Work requires the ability to drive and/or operate mechanical equipment.* Work requires visual acuity of 20 feet or more, visual acuity of 20 inches or less, three dimensional vision, precise hand/eye coordination, the ability to identify and distinguish colors* Must be able to lift more than 60 pounds.**Testing**Written and Typing testSaturday, October 24th, 20268:00 AM**Location:** Tomball Police Department 400Fannin, Tomball, TX 77375**Be prepared to test for approximately 2-3 hours**Please contact **Sergeant Amanda Varley** for any questions at **View email address on click.appcast.io or @ View phone number on click.appcast.io****SALARY:*** **Hiring range** - $51,834- $54,426**($24.92 - $26.17)*** **Salary range -**$51,834 - $72,550**\\*\\***Salary is dependent on qualifications and certifications**\\*\\***## Qualifications| || --- || **Education and Experience** – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. |**Education** HS\\_GED**Experience** High level of computer and typing skills enforcement environment.
