Professional Job Description

Title: Food Service Worker Reports To: Supervisor of Food Service Position Goal: To serve the students and staff attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and warmth. To assure good sanitation of all kitchen equipment.

Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Demonstrates aptitude for successful performance of tasks. 3. Able to physically work in a standing position for prolonged periods and walk much of the time during the day; work in warm surroundings. 4. Have manual dexterity to handle knives and other kitchen equipment. 5. Able to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds. 6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board Designee may find appropriate and acceptable. 7. Ability to follow policies and practices.

Performance Responsibilities: 1. Perform in accordance with the Department of Education and District guidelines. 2. Prepare and serve food to students and staff. 3. Assist in setting up and cleaning service areas. 4. Work cooperatively with other food service personnel. 5. Maintain an effective level of communication with appropriate personnel. 6. Appropriately store all food supplies and associated products necessary for operation of the food service department. 7. Follow preparation instructions in order to ensure that quality food is served. 8. May use various pieces of kitchen equipment, such as dishwashers, ice cream machines, garbage disposals, and ovens. 9. Follow sanitation standards in storage, equipment upkeep and preparation. 10. Serve portions according to directions and standards. 11. As assignment requires, maintain complete inventory of food supplies and other products. 12. Complete record keeping as required according to assignment. 13. Maintains a continuing program of staff development and training to develop a competent workforce. 14. Maintain good public relations with district employees, students, parents and community. 15. Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Superintendent or designee.

Physical Requirements: Bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing-pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking.

Working Conditions: 1. Includes extremes of temperature and humidity. 2. Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases.

Terms Of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
