SQL-Heavy Developer (T-SQL)

Client is in need of a SQL-heavy developer (T-SQL) who is experienced with Classic ASP (VBScript), and has experience maintaining and supporting legacy systems in production environment.

5 Years Experience in SQL Server development (T-SQL)
5 Years Experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries
3 Years Experience doing performance tuning (indexes, execution plans, refactoring)
3 Years Development experience w/stored procedures, views, and troubleshooting production issues
3 Years Classic ASP (VBScript) development experience
5 Years Experience maintaining and enhancing existing code
3 Years ADO, session management, request/response lifecycle
3 Years Experience successfully debugging older, minimally documented applications
3 Years Proven experience supporting legacy production systems and applications
3 Years Previous experience working in legacy environments where stability is critical
3 Years Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
3 Years Experience working independently with limited documentation
3 Years Experience working in an environment focused on safe, incremental improvements and support

Core skills needed:

Strong SQL Server / T-SQL experience
Writing and optimizing complex queries
Performance tuning (indexes, execution plans, refactoring)
Stored procedures, views, and troubleshooting production issues
Classic ASP (VBScript) experience
Maintaining and enhancing existing code
ADO, session management, request/response lifecycle
Comfortable debugging older, minimally documented applications
Proven experience supporting legacy production systems, including vendor-provided applications

Nice-to-have skills:

Experience supporting or coordinating with third-party/vendor applications
Basic IIS and Windows hosting knowledge (app pools, permissions, deployments)
Familiarity with modernization patterns (not required to implement, but helpful context)

Key expectations:

Comfortable working in legacy environments where stability is critical
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Able to work independently with limited documentation
Focused on safe, incremental improvements and support

Additional Skills & Qualifications
