Senior Consultant - Governance Risk and Controls Full-time At KPMG, our Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team partners with Boards, Audit & Risk Committees, and executive leaders across Australia’s largest public and private sector organisations. We’re looking for a Senior Consultant to join our Perth team — someone who’s passionate about helping clients solve real business challenges, uplift their risk and control environments, and deliver assurance that matters. Forming part of the GRC team in Perth, this role will play a key role in scoping, execution and reporting for a wide range of client-facing projects covering governance advisory, risk and control advisory, contract management and performance reviews, and internal audit projects. As a Senior Consultant, you will be consulting with clients on how best to establish effective governance arrangements, implement business process controls and assist them in measuring business performance and risk management. You will: Work collaboratively with multiple client engagement teams across various sectors to assess governance, risk management, contract management and internal control frameworks across a wide range of clients, business areas and processes. Deliver programs of work to assess and uplift, or provide assurance over frameworks, processes, risks and controls. This could be in the first line, supporting management; in the second line, supporting risk, compliance or legal functions; and/or in the third line as part of a co-sourced or outsourced internal audit function. As part of this, you will leverage KPMG’s global network, tools and resources to support in solving our client’s problems. Engage with stakeholders to support reporting on engagement outcomes, including delivery of assurance or consulting reports and facilitation of forums to discuss engagement results. Lead junior team members on a day-to-day basis, mentoring and providing professional development. Develop strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to support the identification of opportunities for future business. Play a role internally within the team, to create a great culture where everyone can perform at their best. What Makes You Extraordinary You’re a curious, driven professional who thrives on solving complex problems and building strong relationships. You bring 2+ years of experience in internal audit, risk advisory, governance, or related fields. You have a solid understanding of business processes, risks, and controls — and can translate insights into clear, actionable advice. You’re confident managing multiple projects and guiding junior team members. You communicate with clarity and empathy and enjoy working with diverse stakeholders. To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills & experience could include: A broad range of tertiary qualifications will be considered, including Business, Commerce, Law, Data Management, Mathematics or similar. We will also consider individuals with Engineering or Healthcare services qualifications or experience, who are interested in using these skill sets in a new way, as we work with healthcare and capital-intensive sector clients. An ability to develop rapport and build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders at different levels of our client organisations, as well as internally within KPMG. An ability to coach and guide junior members of the team. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, including ability to manage a variety of stakeholders. Keen problem solver and critical thinker. Experience operating in a professional services environment or in a client facing role is desirable, but not necessary.
