Responsibilities

How you'll make an impact in this role

Perform maintenance, service, and repair of hospital buildings, systems, and equipment, including sterilizers, compressors, fan systems, intercoms, beds, and pneumatic tube systems.

Conduct minor electrical repairs on equipment such as pumps, dishwashers, ice machines, and sterilizers, including replacement of switches, outlets, and plugs.

Review and prioritize work orders; requisition materials and supplies needed to complete assigned tasks efficiently.

Promote and follow safe work practices, actively participating in organizational safety programs and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Support team development by assisting journeyman tradespersons and providing orientation and guidance to new and current maintenance staff.

Apply cost-effective practices to improve efficiency and support organizational cost containment efforts.

Perform facility support duties such as snow removal and general maintenance tasks, and complete additional assignments as needed while contributing to quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

What minimum requirements you'll need

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent is required

Attendance at hospital equipment training schools

License:

Maintenance Professional specializing in EPA Refrigerant Handling obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date

Valid Michigan Drivers License

Work Experience:

Eight years as maintenance mechanic or equivalent job classification

Three years supervisory level experience or equivalent
