General Production Worker

This role focuses primarily on warehouse order picking using a cherry picker and RF scan gun. You will accurately follow pick sheets, locate items, and ensure orders are completed to quota while working at varying heights. Training is detailed and structured to help you understand packaging units, line items, and basic inventory processes, and you may also support other warehouse functions such as freezer work, receiving, and inventory counting as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform order picking for approximately 95% of the workday using RF scan guns and pick sheets provided by supervisors.
• Enter order numbers into RF scan guns based on designated pick sheets and follow instructions to locate specific items and quantities.
• Operate a cherry picker to access product locations, including heights up to 25 feet, while maintaining safety and comfort working at elevation.
• Complete most picks from the first three shelves (up to about 12 feet), with the ability to work higher as required.
• Understand and apply basic math to interpret multiple units in a package and line items on pick sheets.
• Meet daily picking quotas by accurately selecting, staging, and preparing items for packaging, shipping, and receiving.
• Use pallet jacks and wrapping machines when requested to move and secure pallets and materials.
• Support other warehouse functions when needed, including freezer crew, receiving crew, and inventory counting.
• Label, package, and stage products according to warehouse standards to ensure orders are ready for shipment.
• Handle materials safely and efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
• Follow detailed training and standard operating procedures to ensure accuracy, safety, and productivity.
• Work assigned shifts of at least 8 hours per day, with potential for up to 2 additional hours when required to complete work.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow facility guidelines for equipment use and general warehouse conduct.

Essential Skills

• Experience with warehouse order picking or similar production work.
• Comfort working at heights up to 25 feet on a cherry picker, without fear of elevation.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate a cherry picker safely and efficiently.
• Proficiency using RF scan guns and RF scanners for order entry and item location.
• Ability to read and follow pick sheets, including understanding line items and multiple units in a package.
• Basic math skills to calculate quantities and interpret inventory and packaging information.
• Experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment, maintaining productivity and accuracy.
• Willingness to train in multiple areas of the warehouse while primarily focusing on order picking.
• Ability to use pallet jacks and wrapping machines or willingness to learn these tasks.
• Capability to work 8-hour shifts with potential for up to 2 additional hours per day when needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with cherry picker equipment is strongly preferred.
• Background in warehouse packing, packaging, and labeling.
• Experience with shipping and receiving operations.
• Knowledge of warehouse inventory processes and inventory counting.
• Familiarity with material handling, staging, and general warehouse procedures.
• Experience operating forklifts or reach trucks in a warehouse setting.
• Ability to adapt to different warehouse roles such as freezer crew, receiving, and inventory support.
• Comfort working in a brand-new, fast-paced facility with updated equipment.
• Willingness to work 2nd shift, with specific shifts such as 3:00 PM11:30 PM and flexibility on end time when work is completed. Overtime is usually working later on Tuesday and Fridays to ensure pick ahead times.

Work Environment

The role is based in a brand-new, clean warehouse facility equipped with modern, well-maintained equipment, including cherry pickers, RF scan guns, pallet jacks, wrapping machines, and other material-handling tools. The setting is fast-paced and production-focused, with clear processes for picking, packaging, staging, and inventory. Shifts are a minimum of 8 hours per day, with the possibility of up to 2 additional hours as needed, and a typical example shift runs from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM with some flexibility on the back end when work is completed. Weekly hours generally do not exceed approximately 4445 hours unless specifically requested or in emergency situations. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and opportunities for growth, providing a structured yet flexible work environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cottage Grove, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
