Emergency Room Nurse (RN)

This position is for an experienced Emergency Room Nurse with a focus on trauma care, offering a 12-hour shift schedule. The role requires commitment to work a minimum of 36 hours per week with weekend and holiday requirements.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Emergency Room (ER)
• Number of Beds: 56 beds (capacity may reach 60-70 with hall beds)
• Fast Track: Yes, with 6 beds available
• Triage Area: Separate area with 5 beds; travelers may take a triage test and may be assigned
• Holding Area: 18 beds designated for holding inpatients waiting for placement

Patient Care Details

• Average Patients per Day: Approximately 170-200
• Staffing Ratios: 1:3 for general cases, 1:4 for low acuity cases
• Common Diagnoses: Cardiac, Stroke, Sepsis, DKA, AMS, Respiratory issues, Abdominal pain, Mental Health crisis
• Additional Resources: In-house security, ED Techs, CNAs for patient assistance

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in an emergency room or trauma setting
• ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS, or ENPC certification

Note: Travelers with 1 year of experience in larger trauma settings may be considered.

Additional Information

• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Epic
• Radiology Services: Located adjacent to the ED with transportation assistance
• Orientation: 1 day of compliance training, followed by a 12-hour department orientation
• Scrub Color/Dress Code: Any professional colors
