It is the responsibility of the Cook to prepare food items according to the menu and recipe standards of the outlet and customer request. To assure preparation and service is of the highest quality in a timely manner. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company's brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity). Responsibilities include maintaining uniform appearance according to established guidelines, adhering to policies and procedures and health regulations, working rapidly and accurately, paying particular attention to detail, using proper food handling techniques when preparing food, operating kitchen equipment located in the outlet, knowledge of menu items and recipes for each assigned station, properly stocking assigned work station, maintaining a clean and organized work area, notifying Room Chef or Sous Chef of any needed supplies, notifying Room Chef or Sous Chef of any problems that arise, knowing locations of all Golden Nugget outlets and services that are available to the guests, assisting with maintaining a neat, clean and safe working environment, turnover/takeover station according to established procedures, completing special projects as requested by Food and Beverage Management, preparing foods in accordance with the Company's portions standards and recipe specifications prior to cooking, including battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating foods, adhering to the Company's guidelines on proper food presentation and garnishes for all dishes, handling, storing, labeling, and rotating foods properly and in accordance with public health safety, state and local laws, understanding and following FIFO method for food handling, using knives, hand tools, utensils, and equipment to portion, cut, slice, julienne, whip, beat, maintain holding temperature, chill, freeze or otherwise produce food for the dining room, ensuring a neat, clean and safe working environment, presenting needs of the outlet to the Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef.
Qualifications to perform this job successfully include good people skills and a well-groomed appearance, a well-rounded Chinese food background with knowledge of kitchen equipment and knife skills, good memory and the ability to recall recipes, computer skills helpful, knowledge of locations of all Golden Nugget outlets and services that are available to the guests, assisting with maintaining a neat, clean and safe working environment, turnover/takeover station according to established procedures, completing special projects as requested by Food and Beverage Management, possessing a Health Card or be able to successfully obtain Nevada state-required food handling card, minimum one year high volume cooking experience, preferably in a Hotel/Casino environment, knowledge of Chinese food, knowledge of kitchen equipment associated with a Chinese kitchen and knife skills, minimum age requirement is 18, must speak, read, write and understand English, must possess basic mathematical skills to include ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide specific to position responsibilities, ability to read and understand all policies and procedures, must be able to communicate effectively with guests, employees, and members of management in English, specific to position duties and responsibilities, must be able to complete standard forms and reports.
