Nephrology Clinic And Dialysis Unit Registered Nurse Duties
Serve as a registered nurse in the Nephrology Clinic and Dialysis Unit, providing highly specialized inpatient nursing care in the fields of hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, and therapeutic plasmapheresis.
Conduct outpatient ambulatory patient intakes; administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous infusion medications; and provide comprehensive patient education on treatment plans, medication regimens, and self-care.
Write, evaluate, and revise dialysis training and procedure manuals and other education materials.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to facilitate dialysis unit placement, vascular access planning, and troubleshooting of vascular access issues.
Educate patients and their families about kidney disease and available dialysis modalities, including treatment procedures, benefits, risks, and ongoing self-management requirements.
