Job Description

This role focuses on custom welding and fabrication work in a shop environment with welding structural components directly from blueprints. You will primarily perform MIG and flux core welding on high-strength steel, with occasional work on stainless steel and aluminum. The position requires strong fabrication skills, the ability to work from prints with minimal supervision, and confidence welding in out-of-position and tight spaces.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble flatbed trailers and related components from blueprints and drawings.
• Perform MIG and flux core welding on high-strength structural steel, including out-of-position and vertical welding in tight or confined spaces.
• Interpret and work directly from blueprints, ensuring accurate dimensions, fit, and alignment of all parts.
• Use fabrication tools and equipment, including plasma cutters, laser cutters, and material handling equipment, to cut, shape, and prepare components.
• Operate overhead cranes and other material handling devices to move and position steel and assemblies safely.
• Apply proper pre-heating procedures and processes when required, following established welding and fabrication best practices.
• Demonstrate an understanding of basic metallurgy as it relates to welding and fabrication of high-strength steels and structural components.
• Perform limited TIG welding on aluminum and stainless steel as needed, depending on project requirements.
• Work independently in a custom fabrication environment, taking a project from raw material to finished assembly with minimal supervision.
• Maintain a high level of welding quality with extremely limited errors while meeting productivity expectations.

Essential Skills

• MIG and flux core welding experience, ideally at least 3 years in a production or fabrication environment.
• Strong fabrication experience, with the ability to build custom parts and assemblies from prints.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols accurately.
• Proficiency in using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools with a high degree of accuracy.
• Demonstrated skill in MIG welding, including vertical and out-of-position welding on structural steel.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and solve fabrication and fit-up issues.
• Ability to work independently and take a project from blueprint to finished product.
• Understanding and proper utilization of pre-heating procedures and processes in welding applications.
• Basic understanding of metallurgy as it relates to welding high-strength steels and structural components.
• Experience working with structural steel in a welding and fabrication shop environment.
• Ability to safely operate plasma cutters, laser cutters, and material handling equipment, including cranes.
• Willingness and ability to work in loud, hot, and cold shop conditions while following all safety rules.
• Possession of basic hand tools required for welding and fabrication work.
• Ability to comply with a no-cellphone-on-the-floor policy and sign acknowledgment of this requirement.

Pay/Shift:

Hiring for Multiple Positions

2nd Shift- 2:00pm-10:00pm (4 Day Work Week)

Pay- BOE- $20-$28 p/h (Shift difference added)

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlisle, PA.

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $28.50/hr.
