JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

Department: Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)

Shift Timings : 07:00-19:30 Monday to friday (3 Days/12 Hours)

Per Week: 36

Roles & Responsibilities

• Providing round-the-clock care to premature and severely ill newborn infants.
• Caring for the basic needs of infants; for example, feeding and changing diapers.
• Performing medical procedures; for example, inserting intravenous lines, performing tests, and administering medications.
• Assisting the NICU physicians in medical procedures and treatments.
• Using and adjusting specialized medical equipment.
• Formulating nursing plans and evaluating the effectiveness of treatments.
• Comforting ill newborns and anxious parents and family members.
• Offering support to parents and family members and educating them on the at-home care of their newborn.

Minimum Qualifications

• Registered Nurses are responsible for providing nursing care to patients and their families in accordance with the American Nurse's Association Standards of Professional Nursing Practice.
• The Registered Nurse is expected to provide primary nursing care for patients and to assume responsibility for other nursing care processes by assessment, plan of care, intervention, and evaluation.
• Specifications: Must have and maintain current licensure in the State of Rhode Island. Maintains CPR and any other credentials or certifications necessary to be competent as a Registered Nurse in an area of specialty.
• Must be able to lift a patient (with assistance) and help them into a chair, wheelchair, or stretcher and be able to transport patients in wheelchairs or on stretchers.
• Must be proficient in the English language.

QUALIFICATIONS

• BLS and ACLS
• National Institutes of Health (NIH)
• Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• The ability to stand for extended periods.
• Strong technical skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Passionate about patient care
• Requires a minimum of two years of current RN NICU experience.
• Graduate from a fully accredited RN program
• Active unencumbered RN Rhode Island state license
• One year of Cerner experience

Requirements
• COVID vaccine with 2 Shots & Booster.
