Medical Physicist - Dallas, Texas

US Oncology Network-wide Career Opportunities

Overview Texas Oncology is excited to announce an incredible opportunity for a full-time, vibrant, team-oriented Medical Physicist to join our regional group of five radiation oncology centers located in the Dallas metroplex. This position will primarily be based at the Medical City location within the Dallas Region POD. The Medical City location is a busy practice that provides a full range of radiation therapy procedures, including SRS, SBRT, TBI, and HDR in addition to standard external beam therapy. Equipment in use at this location includes Varian iX with OBI, Varian 2100CD, Accuray CyberKnife M6, Elekta HDR, GE Discovery RT CT, ARIA, Eclipse, Accuray Precision planning, and Oncentra Brachy planning. The fully staffed team includes 2 Radiation Oncologist, 2 ABR Certified physicists, 1 Certified Medical Dosimetrist, 6 Radiation Therapists, 1 Diagnostic CT/XRAY Technologist and 1 Chief Therapist. In addition, the POD Chief Physicist is based at this location. The Dallas Region consists of 6 radiation oncology centers supported by a total of 10 Medical Physicists and 10 Radiation Oncologists. While each center is operationally independent, the physics staff collaborate on special projects and assist each other as needed. In addition to external beam therapy (3D, IMRT and VMAT), there are active SBRT programs at 5 centers, HDR programs at 5 centers, TBI programs at 2 centers, radiopharmaceuticals at 3 centers, a CyberKnife program at 1 location and a CAMPEP accredited physics residency program based at 1 location. Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities: Full range of on-site clinical medical physics support. Occasional on-site or remote physics support for sites within the region Determines the need for, specifies, and accesses dosimetric and treatment planning equipment including, but not limited to, measurement instruments to calibrate all treatment equipment and monitoring devices, computerized treatment planning systems, computerized water phantom systems with appropriate ionization chambers and diodes, film densitometry systems, etc. Advises and consults with physicians to provide advice or direction to technical staff when patients are being planned or treated. Working knowledge of SRS, SBRT, and HDR Experience with Varian linear accelerators Experience with Accuray Cyberknife planning, treatment and QA Experience with Eclipse treatment planning Experience with HDR planning and treatment - Elekta and/or Varian Experience with ARIA Qualifications The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications: MS or PhD degree in Medical Physics from a CAMPEP-accredited graduate program Graduation from a CAMPEP-accredited Medical Physics residency program ABR board certified or in the process of obtaining certification Texas state licensure RAM license eligibility US Oncology Network-wide Career Opportunities
