This posting is for 3+ roles in the Product Pipeline Platform. We are open to candidates with 3+ years of experience, with rate offers bring commensurate with experience and skills of the candidate. We will screen/interview for the candidates that bring the best combination of Software Engineering experience, fit for platform culture, and relevant domain knowledge. Following technical interviews, we will invite the top candidates to meet with one or more of the following squads. Offers will be made based on mutual best fit. We will prioritize candidates local to STL but will consider exceptional talents and/or individuals with prior work experience at Bayer who are in other locations within the US.
The Protocol & Experiment Planning Squad is at the heart of our research and development efforts, providing the digital tools to design and manage scientific studies. This team owns the products that govern the creation of experimental protocols, the design of statistically-sound sampling and randomization plans, and the overall management of experiment data. The squad's capabilities also include the critical functions of managing capacity requests and allocating physical and virtual environments for testing. This ensures that our research teams have the resources they need to conduct their work efficiently and effectively.
The Quality and Compliance Squad governs a critical suite of applications that ensures product integrity from development to post-market surveillance. This team manages the systems for release authorizations, material specifications, and the categorization of quality and transportation events. The squad also owns the platforms for monitoring product performance in the field and managing requests from regulatory agencies. Ultimately, this team is responsible for the core digital tools that uphold our stringent quality and compliance standards across the organization.
The Seed Material Creation Planning squad orchestrates the initial phases of our product pipeline, focusing on the strategic management of genetic materials. This team's capabilities cover the end-to-end process from creating line advancement plans and introducing novel entities to managing the complexities of material importation. The squad also leads material investigations to ensure the quality and viability of our seed stock. These functions are essential for driving innovation and maintaining the integrity of our breeding programs.
The Ref Data Setup & Analysis squad provides the core platforms that enable users to configure and execute complex data analyses. This team owns the products for designing analytical workflows, managing calculations, and accessing a centralized hub for answers and insights. Their capabilities empower users to ask questions of the data and manage the entire lifecycle of an analysis from setup to interpretation. Ultimately, this squad delivers the foundational tools necessary for data-driven decision-making across the organization.
The Field Activities squad provides the essential digital capabilities for planning, managing, and executing all in-field operations. This team owns the products that enable users to create and associate activity plans, ensuring that work is carried out efficiently and according to protocol. Their responsibilities also include maintaining critical data bridges to other key systems like ARM and eStudy, facilitating seamless information flow. By managing the quality assurance workflows and the business rules that govern them, the squad ensures data integrity and operational excellence across all field-based work. POSITION SUMMARY-
This posting is for a Full-Stack Software Engineer in the Product Platforms organization. In this role, the engineer will participate in all aspects of requirements gathering, design, development, and support of software products supporting Bayer Crop Science -- true cradle-to-grave ownership. Teams in our organization use Agile development methodologies.
Responsibilities include:
• Direct interaction with business users and other technical teams
• Collaboration with Product Management on product backlogs and roadmaps
• Cradle-to-grave ownership of software products
• Ownership of applications, supporting AWS infrastructure, test automation, and CI/CD pipelines
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to define and design new features, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Development: Build and maintain software applications using a range of technologies, focusing on performance and scalability.
• Code Review: Participate in code reviews to provide constructive feedback and promote best practices among team members.
• Support: Provide support for application issues, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
• Agile Participation: Engage actively in agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Architecture Contribution: Assist in the design and architecture of systems, ensuring they meet current and future business needs.
• Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for code and processes.
REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
Education Requirement(s):
• Computer Science or related degree preferred
Skill & Competency Requirements:
• 3+ years of experience in full-stack software development for mid-level positions; 8+ years for expert-level positions.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks for full-stack development, including UI development in React and API development in nodejs or golang.
• Familiarity with building APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of cloud services (AWS preferred) and experience with cloud-based architectures.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in agile teams.
Preferences:
• Experience in the agriculture or crop science industry.
