RN Clinical Periop Nurse

Job Title: RN Clinical Periop Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 6:45 AM - 5:15 PM, 4 days a week with call Experience: Less than 1 year required, completion of accredited/approved school of nursing with requisite clinical hours, experience with direct patient care preferred License: RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support or equivalent Must-Have: Ability to read, write, and speak English. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills. Customer service skills required. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Strong critical thinking skills. Excellent time management skills. Ability to optimize the use of technology to support clinical care.

Description: The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients and families receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. The position practices in a clinical environment supported by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The framework for practice is steered by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice and research. It is expected that the RN Clinical Nurse is licensed, knowledgeable, and upholds nursing practice standards. As a member of the team, the RN Clinical Nurse will uphold the voice of the patient and support service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The RN performs the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care. They use analytical and critical thinking to ensure individualized care while coordinating effectively with a focus on patient goals. The RN provides relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. They engage with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for communication and care delivery. The RN coordinates safe, quality patient care through diverse interdisciplinary communication. They demonstrate teamwork and fiscal responsibility, supporting the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members. The RN participates in performance improvement and supports an environment of shared governance. Professional Development and Initiative: The RN completes ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education. They serve as a preceptor or mentor, ensuring a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: The RN promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research. They participate in data collection and use appropriate resources to address practice questions. The RN ensures compliance with organizational policies, legal standards, and accreditation requirements. Resources and Support: The RN proactively plans for patient care while giving direct patient care. They develop protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes. The RN supports the efficient use of human and material resources. Other Duties: The RN will perform other duties as assigned while complying with all organizational policies and standards of conduct.
