Basic Job Functions The Team Lead- Production is a combination of the Production Technician (Level III) and Team Leader role within production operations. It is designed for experienced First Solar Associates who have strong technical competence and demonstrated ability to collaborate and lead others. The role blends Production Technician responsibilities with supervisory duties and is a potential step toward becoming a Production Supervisor. Team Leads may also be required to participate in training during off‑crew days and will carry a company‑provided communication device. Responsibilities Operate and maintain production equipment safely and efficiently. Manage materials, processes, and inventory to meet production targets. Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including use of hand tools and measurement devices. Execute quality control tasks and utilize statistical process control (SPC) for data analysis and decision making. Provide on‑the‑job training and mentorship to team members. Lead teams through job assignments, offer guidance, and resolve issues. Interface with machine control panels and equipment computers to monitor parameters and alarms. Operate forklift as required, following proper training and certification. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to run approved tests and solve production problems. Collect and report process data, including SPC results, to appropriate stakeholders. Maintain safety procedures, good housekeeping, and proper use of personal protective equipment. Ensure timely inventory replenishment and waste disposal. Communicate effectively with peers and leadership during shift changes and throughout the manufacturing day. Participate in job description reviews and adjust responsibilities as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or GED; preferred associate degree or certificates in a technical discipline. Minimum six months experience as a Production Technician I in any production area (Front‑to‑Back End). Production Supervisor recommendation required. At least one year of prior Team Lead or supervisory experience (external). Safety First mindset and commitment to high quality standards. Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills. Proficiency in mathematics and application of statistical process control concepts. Effective oral and written communication skills, including 1:1 and group settings. Fundamental knowledge of computer applications and ability to interface with machine control panels. Capability to use mobile systems, communication devices, simple tool interfaces, hand tools, and measurement tools. Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification (operating or walk‑behind) as required. Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 58 pounds, climbing stairs, and working in large manufacturing spaces. Reporting Relationships Reports to Manufacturing Supervisor. Travel 0%‑5% travel for training or plant startup activities, including visits to other First Solar locations. Estimated Salary Range Not specified. Physical Requirements Will sit, stand, or walk for up to 12 hours per day. Will climb stairs frequently and may need to lift 58 pounds occasionally. Will lift 37 pounds regularly and push or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally. Will grasp, lift, and handle objects on a frequent basis. Requires 20/40 vision with or without correction and ability to distinguish red, yellow, and green. May need to reach above shoulder height and bend at the waist frequently. Must comply with all safety standards and wear personal protective equipment including steel‑toed shoes, gloves, eye protection, and breathing protection as required. May need to stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis. Additional Requirements Must successfully complete a background check and any other required tests.
