Job Opportunity At Alter Company
We are a start to recycling metals so we process used material. This position helps process that material so that it can be further recycled. So this environment is an all weather environment working outside regularly.
Job Summary
- Processes material so that it can be further recycled. This will require torching and de-manufacturing appliances and vehicles.
- Provide great customer service by providing prompt service, weighing material and properly inspecting & identifying material from the general public.
- Correctly enter customer and product information into our system.
- Learn and operate machines (forklift, shears, balers, etc.) to help with the recycling process.

Alter Company is looking to add to its team in Quincy, IL. Alter Trading Corporation is a 127+ year old company, with 70+ scrap metal processing facilities throughout the Midwest and Southern region. Alter is committed to our customers by being the best source of both ferrous and non-ferrous metal and by giving great customer service.
About You
- Willingness to work outside year round.
- Ability to work safely.
- Preferred Experience: Background in non-ferrous (NF) and ferrous metals, shredders, supervisory or leadership roles, inventory management, equipment operation, or operations/team lead/manager positions
