Description

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a position in the Progressive Care Unit. This role offers guaranteed hours and is scheduled for a night shift, specifically from 7 PM to 7 AM. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated professional committed to delivering outstanding patient care.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:3 AM, 1:4 AM or 1:4 PM, 1:5 PM (with patient care techs)

Staffing Description

This unit is typically staffed with registered nurses only, with limited availability of techs based on patient load. Unit secretaries are present from 7 AM to 7 PM, providing various resources to the nursing staff.

Equipment and Documentation

• Type of Equipment: BiPAP, Heated High-Flow Nasal Cannulas, Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo Feeding Pumps
• Documentation System: Meditech

Scheduling Requirements

• Full-Time Staff: 36 hours/week with a rotation every third weekend
• Part-Time Staff: 48 hours/week with a rotation every third weekend
• PRN Staff 1: Minimum of 3 shifts in a 4-week period with 1 weekend shift requirement
• PRN Staff 2: Minimum of 6 shifts in a 4-week period with 3 weekend shift requirements

Staff will follow a rotating holiday schedule.

Floating Policy

PRN staff may float once per week, while full-time and part-time staff will float according to a scheduled rotation. Bonus shifts may also float first.

Patient Experience Requirements

• Bedside shift report
• Hourly rounding
• Daily leadership rounds

Certifications

Candidates must hold the following certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Skills and Procedures

Applicants should possess advanced assessment and critical thinking skills, with experience in managing vasoactive drips. Typical procedures performed in this unit include:

• Central Line or PICC line placement
• Chest tube placements

Floating Areas

Staff may also float to the telemetry unit as needed.

Dress Code

Uniform attire consists of charcoal grey scrub tops with matching or black scrub bottoms. Black or charcoal grey jackets are also required, with an option for unit-specific jackets.
