The team’s mandate is to analyze and optimize the architectural performance of AMD’s PC and Gaming processors. This role will involve analyzing and tracing key CPU, Graphics and AI workloads, performance modeling of internal and competitive hardware platforms, debugging SOC performance issues and the development of performance evaluation tools and methodologies. THE PERSON:You have a passion for leading edge SoC architecture, design and verification. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills and enjoys collaborating with architects & engineers located in different sites and time-zones. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are willing to learn and ready to take on problems.KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:Work with IP and SOC architects to develop and optimize leading edge processorsCharacterize workloads, project performance and debug performance issuesRun performance simulations and analyze results to evaluate architectural featuresAnalyze the competition and identify areas for future improvementEnhance existing application tracing techniquesDevelop and maintain tools for data collection and analysisExecute post-silicon debug/tuning efforts to ensure AMD processors are fully performance optimizedJob responsibilities also include multi-discipline interactions with microprocessor architects, ISA definition owners, software optimizers, compiler team, logic designers, and verification engineers to identify, resolve and document architectural performance issuesPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Prior industry/academic experienceExperience with computer architecture, system simulation, and performance evaluationExperience analyzing system bottlenecks and optimizing computing systems for performanceStrong experience with computing software, including operating systems, hypervisors, compilers, drivers, and workloadsAdept at mathematical and statistical modelingDetailed microarchitecture knowledge of a CPU, GPU, NPU, Video Processors, and/or DRAM controllers Proficient in C/C++ programming and software engineering conceptsACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:Bachelors, Master’s or PhD degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering or Computer Science with emphasis on computer architecture preferredLocation:Austin, TX#LI-JE1Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.AMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
