Environmental Litigation Associate Attorney

Locations: San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA

Direct Counsel is seeking an  Environmental Litigation Associate Attorney to join a premier Am Law firm with a nationally recognized environmental litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental and toxic tort litigation, along with experience in regulatory matters and environmental diligence.

Responsibilities:

• Handle complex environmental and toxic tort litigation matters.

• Defend clients in agency enforcement actions and advise on regulatory compliance.

• Conduct environmental due diligence in connection with corporate transactions.

• Research and apply federal and state environmental statutes, including CERCLA and California Proposition 65.

• Draft briefs, correspondence, and written discovery responses.

• Prepare for and support depositions and oral arguments.

• Manage discovery and day-to-day case responsibilities.

• Collaborate with attorneys, experts, and clients on complex scientific and regulatory issues.

Qualifications:

• Strong environmental and/or toxic tort litigation experience.

• Significant experience with agency enforcement defense and regulatory compliance counseling.

• Experience conducting environmental due diligence for corporate transactions.

• Knowledge of federal and state environmental statutes, including CERCLA and California Proposition 65.

• Experience drafting briefs, correspondence, and written discovery responses.

• Deposition and oral argument experience.

• Strong discovery and case management skills.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Admission to the state bar where practicing or eligibility for admission by waiver.

Salary: $260,000–$365,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and other factors, plus potential discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.
