As an Apprentice HVAC Technician, you will work alongside experienced HVAC professionals to learn the skills needed to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and support the installation of commercial HVAC systems across ECP’s extensive property portfolio. The Apprentice HVAC Technician reports directly to the HVAC Supervisor and receives day-to-day guidance from the HVAC Lead Technician. This position assists with preventative maintenance, responds to service requests, supports equipment replacements and capital improvement projects, and helps ensure HVAC systems operate safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is motivated to learn, committed to safety, and dedicated to delivering excellent service to tenants and team members.

Under the guidance of experienced technicians, the Apprentice HVAC Technician will:

• Replace and clean air filters
• Inspect and assist with adjusting or replacing belts
• Lubricate bearings and moving components where applicable
• Assist with inspecting motors, fans, and related equipment
• Check electrical connections and identify potential issues
• Verify thermostat operation and system controls
• Inspect and clean condensate drains and drain pans
• Assist with testing economizer operation
• Inspect evaporator and condenser coils for cleanliness and condition
• Record operating temperatures, pressures, and amperage readings
• Assist with troubleshooting HVAC equipment and system performance issues
• Support HVAC equipment replacements and installations
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and work documentation
• Follow all company safety procedures and industry best practices

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical equipment preferred
• Willingness to learn commercial HVAC maintenance and repair procedures
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and follow instructions, diagrams, and technical information
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate professionally with tenants, vendors, and coworkers
• Dependable, self-motivated, and eager to learn
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Required

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to travel between company properties as needed
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform physical duties associated with HVAC work
• Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work occasional after-hours shifts or assist with emergency service calls when required

Preferred

• Enrollment in or completion of an HVAC trade school program
• Previous experience in HVAC, construction, maintenance, mechanical trades, or a related field
• EPA Section 608 Certification (or willingness to obtain)
