Introduction A privately owned veterinary emergency and referral hospital in Portland, Oregon is seeking an Emergency Veterinarians to join its established specialty and emergency team. Working Hours / Rota The hospital operates seven days a week from 7:00am to midnight with inpatient overnight care supported by the emergency and critical care teams. Flexible scheduling options are available to support work life balance while ensuring continuous emergency coverage for patients across the region. Role Description and Responsibilities The Emergency Veterinarian will manage urgent and critical cases within a busy referral and emergency hospital environment. Responsibilities include triaging emergency patients, performing diagnostics, stabilizing critical cases and coordinating treatment plans while collaborating closely with specialists across multiple disciplines. The role also includes participating in case rounds and contributing to the hospital's strong learning culture through ongoing clinical discussions and training opportunities. Practice Details This specialty and emergency referral hospital provides advanced veterinary services for patients across Oregon. The hospital operates a fully equipped emergency department and intensive care unit supported by modern diagnostics and imaging services available seven days a week. The practice maintains a strong culture focused on collaboration, education and mentorship, with daily case rounds and weekly in house training sessions supporting continued learning for both veterinarians and technicians. Team The hospital is supported by a large multidisciplinary team including four surgeons, two internists, three neurologists, one radiologist, one ophthalmologist, three criticalists and one medical oncologist alongside a full team of emergency veterinarians, experienced technicians and dedicated support staff.
