Join Our Dynamic Clinical Team as a Medical-Surgical Nurse!

Job Description:


- Shift: 18:45-07:15
- Location: Main Campus, 509 Biltmore Avenue
- Unit Name: D2
- Number of Beds: 40
- Patient Ratios:
- 1:5 Step-Down
- 1:6 MedSurg
- 1:5 if combined day and night

- Unit Staffing Goal:
- Aim for a free charge, typically 1-2 CNAs based on volume, both day and night

- Equipment:
- Baxter IV pumps

- Documentation System:
- Cerner

- Scheduling Requirements:
- Every other weekend, no call, assist with holidays

- Floating Policy:
- Expected to float to other units within skill set

- Patient Experience Focus:
- Patient safety and care come first

- Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years' recent MedSurg, Telemetry, and Step-Down (PCU) experience
- Positive attitude and teamwork focus for a fast-paced, quick-turnover environment

- Unit Overview:
- We are a Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit
- Focus on ED decompression and enhanced throughput
- We complete Admission Assessments, Medication Reconciliation, and initiate acute care orders
- Care for a wide variety of diagnoses requiring a well-rounded background

- Advanced Skills Needed:
- Charge Nurse experience appreciated but not required

- Procedures Performed on Unit:
- Minimal bedside procedures

- Certifications Required:
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

- Dress Code:
- Navy Blue/White or combo; no t-shirts
- Appropriate navy or white jacket/sweater as needed
