CDL-A Truck Driver

Job Details Location: Piqua, OH 45356 As a Scott Steel CDL-A Professional Truck Driver, your main responsibility will be operating a Conestoga trailer, tractor trailer, or other specialized truck/vehicle that transports finished goods and raw materials (steel coils) to and from manufacturing plants and/or retail and distribution centers. The CDL-A Professional Truck Driver prepares, receives and provides appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick-up of goods to ensure timely service, as well as load, secure and unload cargo. As the Truck Driver you will maintain logs of travel and cargo to all federal and state Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and assist with duties within the warehouse as needed. Reports To: Traffic Manager Responsibilities Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants and/or retail and distribution centers Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance Plan routes and meet delivery schedules Document and log work/rest periods and kilometers spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts Input “macros” into our automated system for each stage of the loading and unloading process Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions Collect and verify delivery instructions Report defects, accidents or violations Qualifications Proven work experience as a truck driver Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.) Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly Physically able to chain and/or strap loads No recent moving or driving violations Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.) Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations Trucking school diploma Valid truck driving license (CDL - Class A) Flatbed experience a plus (Conestoga trailers) #J-18808-Ljbffr Scott Steel
