Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $75,000.00 Annually The Opportunity SAFE seeks an Associate for its Center for Grid Security. This individual will help drive the execution of the Center's initiatives while building the systems, processes, and relationships that enable the Center to scale its impact. This role is designed for someone who wants to build expertise, take ownership, and contribute to work that matters. SAFE’s Center for Grid Security (CGS) advances research, education, and policy solutions that strengthen U.S. national security and economic prosperity by enabling the rapid, secure expansion of the U.S. electric grid to meet the nation's most critical energy needs. CGS operates at the intersection of energy, national security, and economic competitiveness, ensuring grid policy reflects the realities of rising defense, industrial, and AI driven demand. The Center drives change by pairing rigorous analysis with purposeful convening and direct policy engagement, translating expertise into actionable solutions that move from concept to implementation. Responsibilities Convening and Event Coordination Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of policy roundtables, convenings, webinars, and major Center events. Manage logistics, timelines, participant communications, speaker coordination, and event materials. Ensure that every event is executed professionally and reflects the high standards of SAFE and the Center. Project and Initiative Management Coordinate the execution of key Center initiatives and projects. Manage timelines, deliverables, stakeholder communications, and follow up actions. Ensure projects remain aligned with organizational priorities and are completed on schedule and to a high standard. Database and Systems Management Help maintain operational systems and databases that support the Center's work, including contact management, event participation tracking, partner engagement records, and impact metrics. Ensure data is accurate, organized, and useful for strategic decision making. Internal Processes and Organizational Development Work closely with the Executive Director to develop and improve internal processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen execution, and support the Center's continued growth. Communications and Materials Development Draft professional communications related to stakeholder outreach, event coordination, speaker invitations, and partner engagement. Assist in the preparation of summary memos, briefing materials, and analyses. Coordinate with SAFE's communications and design teams to support publications and event materials. Executive Partnership and Strategic Execution Serve as a trusted partner to the Executive Director, helping translate priorities into action and ensuring the Center operates efficiently and effectively. Track commitments, coordinate follow up activities, prepare briefing materials, maintain event run of shows, and help ensure projects and initiatives move forward seamlessly. Anticipate needs, solve problems proactively, and create the conditions that allow leadership to focus on strategy, relationships, and impact. Stakeholder Engagement and Representation As appropriate, support engagement with partners, policymakers, industry leaders, and other stakeholders. Attend events and convenings as a representative of SAFE and the Center for Grid Security, helping ensure strong coordination and professional execution. Other Responsibilities Contribute to additional projects and initiatives based on organizational needs and individual interests, skills, and professional development goals. Professional Skills and Qualifications Strong candidates will have: 2 to 4 years of professional experience demonstrating strong project management, organization, and execution. Experience supporting a senior executive, team leader, principal, or project lead in a fast-paced environment. Experience coordinating events, convenings, conferences, meetings, or stakeholder engagements. Experience working in energy policy or a closely related field is required; background in government, consulting, nonprofits, or advocacy organizations is a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of American energy policy, grid infrastructure, or advanced transmission technologies; familiarity with national security or economic competitiveness dimensions of energy is preferred. Experience managing stakeholder relationships, partnerships, or client engagement is a plus. Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. Exceptional organizational and project management abilities, with strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining high quality work. Strong judgment, professionalism, and problem-solving capabilities. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with CRM systems, project management tools, or database platforms is a plus. Commitment to accuracy, follow through, and continuous improvement. Professional presence and ability to interact effectively with senior executives, government officials, and external stakeholders. Genuine enthusiasm for contributing to American economic prosperity, energy security, and national security. Education Bachelor's degree required.
