You will support the rollout of our new brand platform and tone of voice, translating them into clear, effective copy across campaigns, product experiences, CRM, digital, social, and performance channels. You'll also help apply and maintain our brand writing guidelines day to day, working closely with senior writers and creative leads.

This role calls for a writer who can move comfortably between conceptual work — headlines, short-form storytelling, scripting — and the more structured, metrics-driven writing that performance marketing demands. You're equally at home developing a campaign idea and optimizing copy against real performance data.

This is a Hybrid position located in one of our Hub Locations: New York, NY, San Jose, CA, or Newport Beach, CA. We value in-office collaboration and meaningful interactions, so expect that you will be able to be in the office on a regular basis according to team needs. When you are not working on-site, you will be working from your home office. We are only considering candidates within a commutable distance to New York, NY, San Jose, CA, or Newport Beach, CA, as we are not offering relocation assistance at this time.

Position Details

About the Role:

Writing & Concepting

Write copy across campaigns, digital experiences, social, CRM, web, video scripts, product surfaces, and performance channels

Contribute ideas alongside designers, art directors, and content strategists

Craft headlines, short-form copy, product messaging, and performance-driven variants

Write and iterate quickly across structured formats, including messaging matrices and testing frameworks

Brand Voice & Tone

Apply McAfee's tone of voice and copy guidelines consistently across your work

Flag gaps or inconsistencies in guidelines as products and channels evolve

Take feedback from senior writers and creative leads to sharpen craft over time

Performance & Iteration

Write and test copy variants for paid social, search, and other performance channels

Use performance data and learnings to inform revisions and future concepts

Balance brand consistency with what the data shows is working

Collaboration

Work closely with the in-house creative team to deliver integrated work

Partner with Product Marketing and Growth to translate strategy and benefits into copy

Support external agency partners in maintaining voice and creative consistency

About You:

6–8 years of copywriting experience, including time in-house/client-side (not agency-only)

Some experience writing for performance marketing — paid social, search, or similar channels where copy is tested and iterated against data

Portfolio demonstrating range across brand and performance work (required)

Experience writing for consumer brands; tech or subscription experience is a plus

Strong fundamentals: clean, clear writing with good editorial instincts

Comfortable taking direction and feedback, with a desire to grow craft and scope over time

Collaborative and proactive in a lean team environment

Able to manage multiple projects and shift between conceptual and structured writing

Pay Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $95,890.00/Yr. - USD $157,540.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
