Want to take your machining skills to the next level?We're looking for a Manual Lathe Machinist / Manual Lathe Operator to join a busy machine shop machining large graphite electrodes and other precision components.Whether you're an experienced machinist who can handle setups independently or an up-and-coming operator with some manual lathe experience who's ready to learn, we want to talk to you.This is a true hands-on machining position where you'll set up equipment, select tooling, make adjustments, measure your work, troubleshoot issues, and watch a raw workpiece turn into a finished precision part.What You'll Be DoingSet up and operate manual lathesMachine large graphite electrodes and other components to precise dimensionsPerform turning, facing, boring, drilling, and threadingSelect proper tooling, spindle speeds, feed rates, and depths of cutRead and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketchesUse micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators to verify dimensionsMeasure parts to 0.001" graduationsPerform first-piece and in-process inspectionsMake machine and tooling adjustments to maintain size, finish, and geometryTroubleshoot tooling, setup, speed, feed, and machining issuesUse overhead cranes, hoists, straps, and lifting equipment to position large workpiecesPerform daily machine startup and routine maintenanceMaintain accurate production and inspection documentationWho We're Looking ForWe're interested in candidates with experience as a:Manual MachinistManual Lathe OperatorEngine Lathe MachinistMachine OperatorCNC Machinist with manual machining experienceTool & Die or machine shop technicianMachining or Machine Tool Technology graduateYou should be comfortable with machine tools, mechanical measurements, shop math, and working safely around industrial equipment.Experienced MachinistsIf you have approximately 3+ years of machine-tool experience, we're especially interested in experience involving:Independent manual lathe setupsClose-tolerance machiningTurning, boring, facing, drilling, and threadingBlueprint readingPrecision measuring equipmentCutting-tool selectionSpeeds and feedsGD&TTroubleshooting machining issuesExperience machining graphite is a plus, but not required based on the provided qualifications.Still Developing Your Machining Career?Don't have years of experience yet?Candidates with some exposure to manual lathes and machine operation who have the mechanical aptitude and desire to learn are encouraged to apply.You'll have the opportunity to build your skills progressively, taking on more advanced setups and machining operations as your ability develops.Bonus SkillsAdditional experience with any of the following can make you an even stronger candidate:CNC lathesCNC millsConversational programmingDNC systemsGD&TGraphite machiningFirst-piece inspectionMachine maintenanceAdvanced blueprint readingAn Associate's degree in Machine Tool Technology or equivalent education is preferred for advanced-level machinists, but hands-on experience is highly valuable.Shop EnvironmentThis is a hands-on industrial machining environment primarily working with graphite components.Candidates must be comfortable:Standing for extended periodsWorking around industrial machining equipmentMoving larger workpieces with cranes and hoistsWearing required PPE, including steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, and eye protectionWorking different shifts when required, including potential 2nd-shift schedulesReady to Put Your Machining Skills to Work?If you're the kind of person who enjoys setting up a machine, dialing in a part, hitting your dimensions, and solving problems with your hands, this could be an excellent next step.Apply today for the Manual Lathe Machinist opportunity.Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denver, PA.Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
