Registered Nurse (RN) - Step Down Unit

Department Overview

The Step Down Unit specializes in providing post-operative care for patients recovering from cardiac surgery. Our primary focus includes patients who have undergone CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting), valve surgeries, or heart transplants. Additionally, we care for patients recovering from various lung surgeries such as wedge resections, lobectomies, or double lung transplants. Our expertise extends to patients requiring care in the areas of esophagectomies, bronchial valve placements, electrophysiology (EP), catheterization (Cath) lab services, and general cardiology.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to post-operative patients in the step down unit.
• Monitor patient vital signs and manage patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and recovery processes.
• Safeguard patient well-being by responding promptly to changes in condition.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Proven experience in a step down or critical care environment preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining patient-centered care.
