What We’re Doing

Our team, Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC)- Global team at Lockheed Martin, is dedicated to engineering, developing, and integrating new capabilities for the Missile Defense System that protects the United States and its allies. While we are part of a large organization, we operate within smaller, agile teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Our responsibilities include Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development, Automated Testing, Cyber Security, and enhancing critical missile defense technologies.

The Work

The role involves providing comprehensive analysis and technical support for a large, distributed Java‑based system. You will resolve complex problems across the full software lifecycle—design, development, testing, integration, and user support—while adhering to detailed specifications to modify or extend functionality within an extensive code base. Responsibilities include collaborating on system design, conducting benchmark testing, debugging, and producing thorough documentation. You will work closely with other support teams to troubleshoot issues, establish standards, and enhance overall system efficiency. Additionally, you will design, code, test, and deploy automation tools that streamline operations and improve reliability.

-This position will involve around 10% travel to our customer sites throughout the U.S

As leader of the C2BMC team, Lockheed Martin directs a partnership of highly responsive industry leaders developing and fielding the backbone of America’s missile defense. Together, this national team supports the design, development, test, integration and fielding of hardware and software elements that enable the Missile Defense System (MDS) to function effectively and continually. You will also have the opportunity to interface with our key customers in the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). You will collaborate with a team of technical professionals including software and systems engineers, architects, and our project engineering team.

Basic Qualifications

• An active Final Secret clearance is required prior to starting.
• Java programming experience
• Knowledge of software practices and coding standards
• Experience with Linux OS
• Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root cause, recommend and develop a solution

Desired Skills

• Security+ or equivalent desired
• Active TS Clearance is desired
• Experience working as part of an Agile team
• C2BMC experience
• Familiarity with Java Spring
• Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker/Kubernetes
• Knowledge of server side development and message passing
• Experience developing enterprise applications
• Good working knowledge of MS Office products
• Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasking
• Use of common software development and management tools such as git, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven or Gradle and Eclipse
• Experience with standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and UML diagrams

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $113,900 - $200,905. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
