Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.2. Assures the delivery of quality department /clinical services in accordance with established hospital and regulatory/accreditation agency standards.3. Assures employee compliance with hospital and Human Resources policies and procedures4. Assures that employee competency and education requirements are satisfied as per hospital policy.5. As required, participates in the Performance Improvement Program as defined by the organization.6. Attends Management/Leadership meetings as scheduled/required and communicates hospital policies, performance improvement initiatives and all other required information for staff.7. Is responsible for participation in committees, task forces and projects as appropriate.8. Assures the provision of a safe employee/patient environment.9. Maintains knowledge related to the operations of the department.10. Works collaboratively with all levels of the hospital interdisciplinary team and promotes the team concept within the department and hospital wide.11. Demonstrates positive customer service, fosters positive employee relations and assures that staff adhere to the Customer Service Behavioral Standards.12. Is supportive of hospital initiatives and projects and functions as a positive change agent.13. Promotes a positive and professional image and is a role model, coach, mentor and resource for staff and peers.14. Direct and supervises tests performed by scientists, cytotechnologists, Pathology Supervisor, Chief Cytotechnologist(s), Histotechnicians, and Laboratory Assistants.15. Trains and assists laboratory supervisor staff16. Oversees and assists with the Quality Control Program and prepares monthly Quality Control reports for section meetings.17. Prepares section payroll and time sheets as required.18. Keeps abreast of accrediting agencies regulatory standards for the Laboratory to meet compliance.19. Documents test implementation and training for staff.20. Maintains effective communication within and outside the Laboratory Department.21. Is actively involved in assisting with the development of effective utilization of laboratory/computer software to include instrument interfacing, tests, worksheets and report formatting.22. Maintains relationships with vendors to resolve issues.23. Monitors turnaround time for applicable assays.24. Perform the duties of Sectional Supervisors and Assistant Supervisor, as needed.25. Develops, submits departmental goals, objectives, and budgets for operations and capital equipment as required by the Senior Director and Medical Director.26. Interviews, hires, evaluates, and counsels employees as per hospital policy.27. Assures completion of staff orientation, annual and ongoing competency and education requirements.28. Attends and participates in educational programs or activities to maintain the current level of knowledge or expertise to manage the department.29. Utilizes multiple methodologies to communicate information.30. Adheres to safety standards for employees and patients.31. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access).
