Senior Accountant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Accountant based in United States. This remote role offers the opportunity to take ownership of critical accounting activities within a global health and diagnostics environment. The position has a primary focus on inventory accounting, product costing, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. You'll work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Finance, and other business partners to maintain accurate financial information. The role combines detailed accounting analysis with opportunities to influence business decisions through cost, margin, and inventory insights. You'll also contribute to audits, internal controls, forecasting, process improvements, and broader general accounting activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, analytical capabilities, and the confidence to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Limited travel may be required to support local sites, physical inventories, audits, training, and collaboration.

Accountabilities

• Own inventory accounting and related month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, rollforwards, and supporting schedules.
• Maintain and review standard costs, bills of material, routings, overhead rates, and other ERP cost inputs in collaboration with Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Finance.
• Analyze purchase price, material usage, labor, overhead, production, and other inventory-related variances, identifying drivers and communicating findings and recommendations.
• Reconcile inventory subledgers to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies across raw materials, work in process, finished goods, in-transit inventory, and inventory reserves.
• Support cycle counts and physical inventories, including planning, variance analysis, accounting adjustments, documentation, and control follow-up.
• Prepare and evaluate inventory reserves, including excess and obsolete inventory and lower-of-cost-or-net-realizable-value considerations, in accordance with company policy and U.S. GAAP.
• Review inventory transactions and master data for accuracy and completeness, investigate exceptions, and partner with process owners on sustainable solutions.
• Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries and perform complex balance sheet reconciliations with clear, audit-ready documentation.
• Support cost-of-goods-sold and gross-margin reporting through product, site, and variance analysis, explaining significant period-over-period changes.
• Provide inventory, cost, and margin analysis to support forecasts, budgets, and operational decision-making.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and maintaining organized documentation and evidence of controls.
• Document accounting procedures and internal controls and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, automation, and scalability.
• Provide technical guidance and cross-training to accounting and business partners while serving as a backup for selected general accounting responsibilities.
• Perform additional accounting and finance responsibilities as needed.
• Support local site activities and limited additional travel for physical inventories, audits, training, meetings, or collaboration with other locations and external partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Five years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, inventory valuation, and manufacturing or product costing principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, reconciliations, and analysis of large datasets.
• Experience working with an enterprise resource planning system; SAP experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to translate detailed accounting information into clear business insights for both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with careful attention to accuracy, documentation, and detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines, exercise sound judgment, and work independently within a fast-paced month-end close environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
• Reliable high-speed internet suitable for effective remote work.
• Willingness to travel locally when required for site support, inventories, audits, training, or business meetings.
