Sourcing Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sourcing Manager I based in United States.

As a Sourcing Manager I, you will drive strategic sourcing initiatives that strengthen competitiveness, improve supplier performance, and deliver sustainable cost savings across multiple regions. You will develop and execute commodity strategies while managing supplier relationships, contracts, and procurement processes. The role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and cash objectives. You will collaborate closely with sourcing, engineering, productivity, supplier quality, EHS, and operations teams to identify opportunities and resolve challenges. You will also lead regional and global leverage initiatives, supplier development programs, and continuous improvement efforts. Success in this role requires strong commercial judgment, analytical capabilities, negotiation expertise, and the ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment.

Accountabilities

• Manage safety, quality, delivery, cost, and cash performance metrics for the assigned subregion, ensuring sourcing teams consistently meet established targets.
• Develop and implement regional commodity strategies for assigned spend categories, communicate strategies across subregions, and ensure alignment with broader sourcing initiatives.
• Assess subregion-specific market conditions and incorporate relevant insights into commodity strategies in collaboration with other sourcing leaders.
• Lead outage forecasting activities for assigned commodities and/or subregions to support effective planning and supplier capacity management.
• Develop, maintain, and distribute RFQ templates and standardized sourcing documents to support consistent commodity management across sourcing teams, project managers, and buyers.
• Negotiate and implement long-term supplier agreements, including MSAs and SOWs, while ensuring compliance with negotiated terms and recommending improvements to standard contract language.
• Improve supplier payment terms and cash performance for assigned commodities while evaluating and applying appropriate supplier financing programs.
• Lead cost-reduction initiatives, maintain a sustainable pipeline of cost-out projects, and ensure savings activities are accurately tracked and updated.
• Support non-conformance reporting and claims processes, using relevant supplier performance data to inform commodity strategies and supplier selection decisions.
• Ensure suppliers operating within the assigned subregion meet required compliance and technical qualification standards, while guiding project managers and buyers on supplier compliance.
• Drive supplier development initiatives and cross-functional improvement projects focused on productivity, value creation, process efficiency, and supplier performance.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships and participate in escalation discussions when necessary to address commercial, operational, quality, or performance issues.
• Contribute actively to 3M, ORR, and POR reviews by validating sourcing strategies, supplier onboarding, purchase requisitions, scopes of work, supplier performance, cost overruns, safety and quality feedback, and lessons learned.
• Lead lean and continuous improvement initiatives designed to strengthen sourcing capabilities, standardize processes, and improve regional procurement effectiveness.
• Travel as required to support suppliers, regional operations, and sourcing initiatives.
• Take on additional responsibilities that support organizational objectives, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 7 years of relevant professional experience with a demonstrated track record of success, including at least 2 years of specialized or industry-specific experience.
• Proven experience in supplier management, strategic sourcing, contracting, and commercial negotiations.
• Strong understanding of supplier management practices and experience supporting large-scale system implementations.
• Fluent written and spoken English with strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Strong analytical capabilities, including cost and price modeling, value analysis, ROI assessment, and commercial evaluation.
• Experience in energy, construction, engineering, or a related industrial environment is preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Professional procurement certification such as CPM is preferred, along with membership in a recognized procurement organization such as ISM.
• Ability to stay current with evolving e-commerce, supply chain management, procurement, and ERP technologies.
• Strong customer orientation, with the ability to understand internal stakeholder requirements, gather feedback, and translate business needs into sourcing solutions.
• Demonstrated initiative, sound decision-making, project management capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with ERP systems, including familiarity with Oracle.
• Ability to operate effectively within a matrix organization and build productive relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and other external business partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and convey complex commercial information clearly.
• High level of discretion, confidentiality, professional judgment, and integrity when managing sensitive business and supplier relationships.
