The millwright is responsible for corrective and preventative work on all plant mechanical equipment while observing and following all safety regulations with required PPE.**What you will be doing:*** Ensure the integrity and reliability of the plant’s mechanical systems and equipment including conveyors, gearboxes, boilers, pumps, bearings rolls, piping, pulpers and other mechanical equipment* Welding of all types of metals using stick or TIG methods* Maintain mechanical equipment to meet regulatory codes of, OSHA, and CalOSHA policy.* Perform rigging activities, safety-related function and other miscellaneous mechanical functions.* Demonstrate safe and proficient use of shop tools (both hand and power)* Familiar with preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and corrective maintenance functions.* Demonstrate mechanical knowledge.* Must demonstrate ability to safely utilize forklifts, boom lifts, and scissor lifts.* Must be physically capable of performing work from ladders, scaffolding, and roof to install, maintain, or repair mechanical equipment.* Discipline to fill out work order documentation and participate in post failure analysis.* Perform duties in a work environment that will be hot, cold, dirty, and fast paced.* General support of the Maintenance department as required, such as assisting with troubleshooting, call-ins, shift rotation, unscheduled overtime, 12-hour shifts, scheduled and emergency repairs, shutdown and outage work, projects, etc. Must be able to work after hour during equipment downtime.**We'd love to hear from you if:*** Applicant should have a minimum of five years of industrial maintenance experience.* The millwright must be able to diagnose and maintain equipment using hand, power, and precision measuring tools.* Candidate must be able to work with a diverse and safe work environment and provide same for others.At Sonoco Products Company, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package, including competitive pay and benefits. *\*Benefits listed below are for employees located in the U.S. Specific benefits and wellbeing programs may vary depending on your location (within the U.S. or global), or if you are a union employee.***Benefits*** Medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents, including FSA and HSA options* 401(k) retirement plan with company match* Wellbeing tools and resources to support holistic health, including an Employee Assistance Program with a variety of services* Paid time off and holidays to recreate, rejuvenate and care for the health of yourself and family* Variety of company paid and voluntary employee-paid insurance plans including life, personal accident, and disability insurance* Tuition reimbursementWe are an equal opportunity employer, and we strictly prohibit and do not tolerate discrimination against employees, applicants or any other covered persons because of race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, marital status, gender identity or expression, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any legally protected characteristic.[](blob: / 3:28Founded in 1899, Sonoco (NYSE: SON) is a global leader in value-added, sustainable metal and fiber consumer and industrial packaging.
